When 30 Years Old, You Reach...
With the 30th anniversary celebration of the first Star Wars film well underway, there are many things that I have reflected on... how much the films mean not only to me, and all of us, but how they resonate through the world and the connections between things that happen in the Saga and the real world. I type this while watching the History Channel's Star Wars special, The Legacy Revealed, which is excellent, by the way, and really has me thinking about how truly relevent our beloved saga is. It's also one of the fun things I've done in the past week to celebrate the b-day of SW, since I was unable to make it to Celebration IV.

I really hope that everyone who attended had a great time, but I sorta feel that hope isn't necessary! Oh well, maybe some other time...

Although I didn't make it to C4, I really did have a lot of fun this week, doing different things to rejoice in the creation and release of ANH... watching the OT films, ordering some new Galactic Heroes from Amazon (I love those things, and they look really cute on my desk!), receiving in the mail the vintage '77 Han Solo I got off eBay at a great price, reading through my The Making of Star Wars book, which is excellent, and well worth the money I paid, full of rare Ralph McQuarrie prints, behind the scenes pictures that are interesting, and lots of information about script changes and storyboards that really add to appreciating the film.

On the 25th, right before work I picked up the Star Wars stamp sheets, one to actually use, and two to keep... they are really awesome and beautifully done, I'm really glad they decided to do this. I put one of the sheets up on my fridge *geek*, and I love seeing it every day when I get my juice on.

I also just picked up the 30th anniversary edition TIE-fighter at Target, and it totally rocks, old-school vintage style. I never had one when I was a kid, and now I do... cool! *throws credit card in vault* :D

Perhaps one of these days I'll actually do a collecting entry!

Seeing all of the pictures and videos on the net from C4 has been great, and I almost feel as if I had been there. Almost. And hey, there's a new Front Page! Pretty cool. And just to think... all of us who stayed at home got to see it first. Nanananana.

So, as I type this post, with my Millenium Falcon nearby out of it's box from the closet to display it for this week, wearing a SW t-shirt, watching a SW special, with DVD's and SW books nearby, I realize that while all of this stuff I have helps me to appreciate the Saga, the true love for it isn't in a SW room or display case, it's in my heart.

Happy Birthday Star Wars 77-07
