Well, in three hours I will have seen the final installment of the Star Wars saga. How might I be doing this you ask? Well I'm a manager for a local movie theatre and we'll be screening our prints tonight in anticipation of our blockbuster sell-out midnight shows tomorrow night (Thursday morning).
So far the reviews I've read have been very encouraging. Roger Ebert in particular seems to have a pretty good grasp on what he saw. I have been expecting almost exactly what he said the movie contains: dialogue that still should have gotten a lot more work, but an overall great story and adventure that scored the movie 3 1/2 stars.
I don't know how I'll feel when those final credits roll. Sad certainly, but hopefully excited as well. I want SOOOOO badly to see the Star Wars saga go out on a high note, that I just don't know if I'll be able to take it if this movie is a let down. Certainly if the movie is a runaway success, it will be hard to contain my enthusiasm when dealing with the crowds about to see it tomorrow night. I also can't wait to watch the crowds' reaction as that familiar title scroll starts up the first time at 12:01. It's going to be a lot of fun.
Anyway, if anyone is actually reading this, I'll be back with my full review later. So please, stop on by, and let me know if you have any question, comments, or strange anecdotes. Until then, MTFBWY.
