The Star Wars Item I Wish They Would Make
There is one Star Wars item (or series of items) that I wish would be made. It has always seemed obvious to me that it would be produced and every time a movie, game, TV show came out I was hoping this would be the time.

But it hasn't. So I'm using my limited role as a SW blogger to put the idea out there and hope the powers that be say, "Wow, that is a good idea. Let's make that happen."

Yes, I know that I will have no rights to this idea but I don't really care. I don't know how I would get anything out of it anyway seeing as I'm just a lowly fan and don't have money or resources to develop this item.

If it happens though, maybe those powers that be will makes sure I get one of the items (hopefully for free).

And maybe this is all for nothing. Maybe those powers that be already considered this item and rejected it for reasons I can't fathom.

I want a real-sized, metal, weighted flashlights that are famous Jedis' light saber handles. A good quality flashlight (like a Maglite) that takes a few C or D batteries. It would look and feel like a "real" light saber and have a belt clip.

This flashlight would work like any other good flashlight. It can be used to see in the dark AND be an accessory to a costume.

As a SW fan and geeky-wannabe Jedi, I would really like to have my flashlight light saber on my belt when I go to work in the crawl space of the basement, or on the car. The best time would be going trick-or-treating with the kids and be able to have a practical flashlight that also matches my costume.

There can also be smaller plastic ones for younger children. But I think the older (adult) SW fans would be willing to pay the $20-$50 for a good quality flashlight that looks like their favorite light saber.

If you like this idea, and would probably buy one, throw a comment on here. Maybe if there are enough, those powers that be will say, "Maybe we should look into that."

I think you have a good idea there, but I'm a "lowly fan" myself. It would be great for children Trick or Treating because they're "lightsaber" would have a practical application (as you wrote). The bulb could come in green, blue, or red so it would emit a color similar to a lightsaber (purple would have to be just for the adult version, becuase it might be too dark to use for Trick or Treating).

Great thought! I hope it becomes reality.

Considering the tens of millions of people (including myself) who have, on occasion, pretended their flashlights were lightsabers, I'm surprised this hasn't occured to anyone in product marketing. I think you're on to something!

There's this one, but I'm not sure you'd call it a high-quality flashlight. It looks fun, though.

I think this is a great idea! And just because it hasn't been built yet doesn't mean it won't be... it took them decades to finally come out with an R2-D2 trashcan.

Gidrea's link looks promising--if I could examine one of those on the shelf in front of me, and it was good enough quality, I'd almost certainly buy it.

In dense fog, narrow light beams from flashlights look like lightsaber beams. Especially in the dark.

I'm still holding out for science to give us workable lightsabers. Hey, a boy can dream!

But would those really be safe for Trick or Treaters, Stooge?

Bobby: Mommy, Jimmy cut off my hand with his lightsaber.

Jimmy: I was just remind him that I'm his older brother. {Menacing Vader-impression} Bobby, I am your big brother!

I would so totally buy one (or two)! I am the cosponsor of the Star Wars club at my school. I could use this at work, at home, and my kids could use it too!
