Mini in the Fan Club Pack
I received my Official Star Wars Fan Club pack of stuff a little while back. To my surprise, among the posters, cards, coupons, obligitory letter from George, t-shirt iron-on (wow...haven't seen those in a long time) was a single Star Wars mini and its stat card.

It got a little smashed in the delivery, but looks to be ok.

For those who don't play but are wondering what exactly this piece is, here's a few notes (I'm assuming everyone was sent the same piece....someone let me know if you got something different):

Mon Calamari Mercenary
The Mon Calamari Mercenary is a low power piece. It does have one special ability - double attack - that isn't bad, along with a good bonus to attack (+7). However, its low hit points means the peice can only take a single hit before it is defeated and eliminated from the game. It's faction is "Fringe", which means that it can be used in squads of any faction (Rebel, Imperial, etc.).

This is a "common" piece. You'd likely get one or more of these without buying too many booster packs for the game. Since this is a promo piece, however, the wording on the base is slightly different. It says "Battlefront" instead of showing a Rebel Storm icon, which is the set this piece comes from. That makes it a interesting to collectors that are trying to get all the promo figures, but I don't think it's unique to Hyperspace.

The stat card is exactly the same as the Rebel Storm card.

For more info on the game, see my earlier post: Starting Star Wars Minis.

On a different subject, Wizards of the Coast is having some Halloween fun with thier other Miniatures games. It's Atomic Terror from Space! featuring a scenario of D&D minis versus the new Axis & Allies minis for a B-movie battle. Very entertaining possibilites here.
