Attack on Endor
Starwars.com posted their preview of the soon-to-be-released Star Wars Miniatures product, the Attack on Endor Scenario Pack, including a few of my own comments on the scenario booklet.

At last*, I can talk about it here.

Attack on Endor went through one of the most interesting development processes I've ever experienced as a freelancer. The name, content and even product concept changed several times before and after I turned over the final text.

Ultimately, I think it's a great addition to the Minis line. Despite the name, it really does cover a lot more than just Endor, plus it has many features that minis players have long called for:

More Maps!
It's got 4 of them on two double-sided sheets. Yavin 4, Endor, a rancor pit and a ravaged base. They feature a wide variety of layouts and terrain. Some are interior only, while others have a mixture of interior and exterior spaces. They work across all eras and they're a lot of fun.

Maps for Huge minis!
All 4 maps were designed by Wizards of the Coast with the Huge minis from the Universe Set in mind.

I Want My AT-ST!
You got it. No more hoping you'll finally pull this prized mini from a randomized Universe pack. You realize, of course, that murphy's law says that the very next Universe booster you buy after the Endor pack will contain that long lost walker. Oh well, you can always use more than one, and they're posed differently. There are a few stormtrooper-types thrown in for good measure.

No Ewoks!
Actually, it turns out people wanted Ewoks. Alas, you will have to search the Rebel Storm boosters for the furry Destroyers of the Empire. (They sound more menacing that way, don't they?

Scenarios!
Scenario lovers should be entertained by the scenario booklet. Think you don't like scenarios? Try them anyway! The Expanded Universe is a prominent feature of some missions, including one with Black Sun and a very challenging Yuuzhan Vong mission. I had a great time writing these. All the missions feature the Universe set to a greater or lesser degree, and most include minis from all the other sets as well.

Of course, I wouldn't want to give it all away here....

Have fun!

UPDATE 02/07/06: The Wizards of the Coast site just posted the product details, including the release date of Feb. 24, 2006.

UPDATE 05/27/06: Updated pic to Attack on Endor AT-ST mini

UPDATE 07/20/06: Attack on Endor is featured at the WotC booth at Comicon 2006.

*At Last!....Many old Marvel Star Wars comics used that phrase. It seemed appropriate here for some reason.

Thanks for the info! Is this the first Minis pack to include original scenarios (I do have all the Miniatures Ultimate books)? As an avid book/story collector, I will certainly buy this one!!!!!

All three starter sets have one scenario each in the main rulebook. They are much shorter and less specific than the Ultimate Missions or Attack on Endor booklet.

Wizards of the Coast has free pdf versions of the Clone Strike and Revenge of the Sith rulebooks available on their website. Rebel Storm is no longer posted, having been superceded by the other rules.

Will all the new sets be like this one? Or will they have 60 figure sets next time?

The next set is a full 60-piece set called Champions of the Force. It was due to come out in April, but I've heard it might've been moved to June.
