GenCon '06 (upcoming)
GenCon is coming up once again. For those who aren't familiar, GenCon is the largest gaming convention in the US. It originated in Lake Geneva Wisconsin, then home to Dungeon's & Dragons producer TSR. It eventually outgrew Lake Geneva and moved to Milwaukee for many years. A few years ago, it again outgrew its host city (among other factors) and was moved to Indianapolis.

Something like 25,000 people attend this convention. Most of the major game companies release or announce new products at the con. The convention centers on RPG, card and minis games, but that is by no means all that is available. Of course, lots of games will be played, but there will also be industry presentations and seminars, workshops, celebrity appearances and even a few concerts.

While GenCon itself is not unit August, pre-registration closes a week from today (June 23 at noon).

I'd highly encourage all fans of both the Star Wars Miniatures game and RPG to go to the official seminar.

The GenCon listing is copied below.

Gaming Group/Sponsor: Wizards of the Coast
Game ID: SEM00144
Title: Star War Miniatures Game Seminar
Event Description: Want to find out what's coming up for the Star Wars Miniatures Game? Come to this discussion with the Star Wars Miniatures design team and find out the latest information on the starships set, competitive play, the RPG, some surprise announcements, and more.
Event Type: SEM - Seminar
Event Duration (hours): 2
Event Start Date: 8/10/06 4:00 PM
Event End Date: 8/10/06 6:00 PM

FYI, there has been a very interesting thread going about this seminar on the Wizards of the Coast Star Wars RPG message board. It is worth repeating from the thread that this is the first time the RPG has been mentioned as part of this seminar for two years.

The seminar is free and should have room even if you decide to skip prereg and just show up anyway.
