Killer Fleet - Inquest Gamer #144
One aspect of freelancing is that you never know where a new project may come from. A few months ago, one of the editors of Inquest Gamer Magazine contacted me about working up a Star Wars Miniatures Starship Battles Killer Fleet for their SWM section.

It took some work and a lot of playtesting*, but I managed to put together a Light Side fleet that typically wins through its scrappy toughness, rather than outright domination. It's a mixed-era fleet, but only barely. With one (albeit major) alteration, those who are looking for a straight Rebel fleet should find it useful as well.

Well, the issue recently arrived in my mailbox, so it should be in stores now - Issue 144, April 2007. This is the first time I've worked with Inquest Gamer, and the results look good. They renamed the fleet to the Karrde Counters, but that's ok, my name wasn't all that awe-inspiring anyway.

So, take the Karrde Counters out for a spin and see if it lives up to its 8 out of 10 rating.

* Playtesting tip: When playtesting, always confirm the point totals for the opposing fleet. I was testing an earlier fleet that didn't work out against someone else's fleet that appeared unbeatable game after game....because they had about 25 more points than allowed on their side. Oops. Always double check the math.
