A few weeks worth of Saga and Minis news.
Almost a month since my last post? Time to catch up...

Wizards announced the winner of their Celebration IV / Star Wars Miniatures diorama contest. You can see pictures of the winning entry, runners up and the Wizard's CIV booth in general here. The finalists were selected from many excellent entries, some of which you can see here.

Over the past few weeks, gamers have been playing, discussing and dissecting Saga Edition. No rule is too minor when it comes to RPGs, or so it would seem. In any case, the designers have done a great job answering questions and revealing the underlying concepts for the game via the Wizards discussion boards. With so many questions flying around, it's good that the latest Jedi Counseling covers some of the more critical points. The first official errata is also available.

Thanks to popular demand, the Tech Specialist feat has made an early appearance. This was originally slated for Saga Edition, but was cut. There was some talk of placing it into a future product. While that's likely to happen, it's already available as the first Saga Edition Web Enhancement. A new Talent Tree, the Outlaw Tech, is also included.

For those waiting for a handy RCR to Saga Edition conversion guide, you can find the unofficial version here. It won't be on the Wizard's site until it is approved, but as it's written by Jedi Counselor Gary Sarli, it's going to be close to the final version, and perfectly useful in the meantime.

In minis news, the details for the 2007 Star Wars Miniatures Constructed Championship at Gen Con Indy** have finally been announced. It's open to all players (though you need to join the DCI for free).

* The 1st place winner will receive $2,000.00 USD.
* The 2nd place winner will receive $1,000.00 USD.
* The 3rd and 4th place winners will receive $500 USD.
* The 5th through 8th place winners will receive $250 USD.
* The 9th through 16th place winners will receive one Alliance and Empire Booster Pack.

Speaking of GenCon, the Star Wars Miniatures and Roleplaying Game Seminar will be on Saturday, 8/18 from 10 to Noon. This is always the best place to get the latest news on the game lines. It's unfortunate it's the same day as the Championship, though.

**FYI, Pre-registration for the convention ends July 9!
