Only a Sith deals in absolutes...
In Revenge of the Sith, Anakin clearly stated, "If you're not with me, then you're my enemy." Obi-wan responded with a sad remark, "Only a Sith deals in absolutes." George Bush had a similar quote when dealing with the war. He stated, "If you're not with me, then you're my enemy." Many of us know that George Lucas is not a big Bush fan. Could it be that he put those lines in there just as something from him? Possibly. I'm not saying I don't agree with him....

Bush actually stated: "Every nation, in every region, now has a decision to make. Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists."

This kind of statement is far from exclusive to Bush or this war. Lucas tends to deal with global themes and not direct allusions. History repeats itself.

What's everyone got against Bush?! Sorry, I'm not trying to offend anyone. It's your opinion and I respect that, but it seems like lately Bush has been being "bashed" as Holo-cron stated, more than usual. Anyways, about the blog, I don't think GL was trying to "bash" Bush. I think it was really just something that GL had Anakin, or rather Darth Vader, say and it was, more or less, a coincidence that it was related to what Bush said.

Well, you will have to look back a bit in history to know that phrases like, "If you're not with us, you're with the terrorists/you're the enemy/you're my enemy/you're against us" etc., were coined far earlier than the Bush administration.

Lucas has said that he had Vietnam in mind while writing Star Wars. A similar phrase was used during the Vietnam era but it's been used by many people/leaders over many eras in many countries. Hardly new and not perfectly attributable to any one individual or power unit. ...even if Bush is a Sith :^O

GL never makes allusions to specific and modern events in the Saga. They are modern myths not political commentaries. Instead GL bases his characters and events after events and situations that have long repeated themselves in History. He works with timeless themes that won't become outdated when Bush leaves office. The actual idea of "If you aren't with me then you are against me." Is hundreds of years old. Even the Bible has similar concepts.

Yes because he may be listening if he is not busy appointing cronies to political posts, finding lies that will send us into another war (Iran anyone), illegaly detaining citizens of foreign countries while not charging them with specific crimes (just because they might be dangerous), or waiting for the next domestic disaster his administration can screw up.

The man writing this blog wasnt bashing Bush I will though and I served this country does that make me a terrorist? People marching blindly behind the beats of a war drum build empires.

Once again I have to agree with Darthgenious7, many of his post have caught my eye.
Yes, we should respect him if not as the President then at least as a person, but it does seem that in the eyes of his supporters the line between disagreement and treason has been blurred. It is the patriotic duty of every nation to question the actions of its government, that is how freedom truly fends itself from the tryanny of blanket slogans such as "If you are not with me, you are my enemy."
I absolutely agree that Lucas is making a general statement about things that have happened over and over again, but that doesn't in any way diminish its application to American politics, past, present or future.

As for Dubya being a Sith Lord.... the guy wins elections with thunderous applause, but not a one of these NeoCons has the phonetic articulation nor the style to be a Sith Lord. Not to mention the fact that Sith Lords have a tendency to dwell on and strategize their plots for revenge for centuries rather than just gamble lives on a roll of the dice.
