Why Dooku Didnt tell Anakin about Palpatine

There was a blog out there about this, but was recently closed. I heard some nice theories in there and have included them into my theory as to why Dooku didnt say anything so thank you to all who responded to that blog as well as this one. Here goes:

#1 Dooku is in utter shock and cant believe that 1. he lost, 2. Palpatine has betrayed him, and 3. Anakin is thinking about killing him. This is too shocking for him to think clear and fast enough.
#2 If he tells Anakin, he will not beleive him. Anakin knows Dooku is a sith lord. As Yoda once said "lies, deciet, creating mistrust are his ways now. If Dooku made such a crazy proposal, Anakin would not believe him. It could make the situation worse as well. (this is probably the main reason he didnt say anything, but the other reasons contribute to it as well)
#3 Maybe Dooku is doing it for the better of the Sith. Maybe he feels honor in loosing and being killed. He sees that he lost fairly and that Anakin will become a great sith. (still... i doubt this had anything to do with it. just a possibility though).
#4 Dooku doesnt think Anakin will do it. First of all, Anakin doesnt seem like he wants to do it. He even says he shouldnt its not the Jedi way. Right before this Dooku seems to be hesitant on something, as if he is about to speak, but then Anakin says this and he shuts up (maybe he and Palpatine can both make it out together). Dooku sighs as if thinking Anakin wont do it after saying he shouldnt and that its not the jedi way. then Palpatine with his evil (Ian is amazing at this) "DO IT!" Dooku now senses Anakins change of mind and gets scared. He raises an eyebrow and looks like he is about to plead or tell Anakin something, but Anakin kills him b4 he can say anything.

Now as for #4 i'm not saying Dooku was going to say anything, but he could have. Bottom line is that Dooku didnt think Anakin would go through with it and that Anakin would not believe him.

he knew... he was involved in palpatines plan. palpatine told him. thats why after episode II he said "i have good news... the war has begun" they were in on it together. palpatine just told Dooku that if Anakin got out of hand, he would save him (obviously that was a bunch of bs, but...). nice theory though. as for the nemodians- i will be writing a blog on whether they did or did not know. i will also be writing a blog on whether or not greivous knew or not. stay tuned.

date Posted: Aug 27, 2005 6:24 PM That's pretty good. In the ROTS novelization, it says that Dooku was in shock. Maybe that's why he doesn't tell Anakin.

All of your theories are great.
I think he was going to say something but them Palps said "Kill him" to Anakin. Then I think he realized that Palps betrayed him and that Anakin was going to be his new apprentice. (The sith cycle). My friend and I always make fun of that scene, we always say that when Palps says kill him, we joke that Dooku shakes his head and says to himself what are you doing master lol , anyway great Blog.

this is a re-post of my original blog. when i first wrote it, it was written at a bad time and didnt have that great of a title and only got one reply, so i changed the title and re-posted it here. i will be posting any replies made on the original here so you can see what people had to say. this one i'm posting next doesnt make a lot of sense and i think it might have been meant to be written in my Mace blog, but it was posted in this one so i'll post it anyway. enjoy:

For people who thinks he knows the future: Palpatine can NOT use the force to read the future. BUT he does have plans. He studies them and knows how they are going to go, and what is going to happen, which gives him a great estimate of the future. This is why he is extreamely dangerous. BUT he made a couple mistakes. 1. He had a 50% chance of dying while confronting mace and anakin had to make up his mind but still it went well 2. Anakin killed him in the end and turned good.

date Posted: Feb 02, 2006 11:38 AM In the book, he does say something he says; "You promised me amnesty" (Anakin is a little puzzled by it but quickly shrugs it off). I think they just edited out the line in the movie figuring it would/should give away too much. Personally I would have taken it as anakin thinking that Palpatine promised Dooku amnesty if he let him go. I wish they had kept it in.

date Posted: Feb 02, 2006 11:40 AM Or could just be that Dooku (knowing what kind of Mastermind Palpatine is) trusts him and works too keep his composure thinking that it is all part of palpatine's plan and trusts Palps not to kill him. Trusting a Sith...ha! Off wit yo friggin head dummy.
