Ah, it seems like just yesterday I was rambling on about boycotting the Oscars in response to how Episode III was "snubbed". Hearing Lucas make that funny remark about not personally winning an Oscar only added to my displeasure with the whole event. Once again they Oscars did not choose as I would, but luckily I can say at least I did not watch this year.
Cars was up for animated film along with
Monster House and
Happy Feet. I worked part time at a children's camp over last summer and went with the children in my group to see the movie as part of a little field trip. I was hoping it would win, as I would find it rather amusing, but like with so many other things that I would have voted for, it did not win. Moving on...
Superman Returns was one of the only major movie I did get to watch that I enjoyed and I had hoped it would win what I believed was its only nomination, which was for Best Visual Effects. (I'm not a "Superman" fan, but I figured it would be a big movie and couldn't miss it. It did not disappoint me and I found it to be very enjoyable). It did not win its nomination...
Not only that, but
Pirates of the Caribbean 2 won that award... oh how I hate that movie and everything it stands for... especially since it beat Ep. III in gross income (not including inflation).
The Costume Design award rightfully went to Marie Antoinette and there were several other deserving awards, such as Letters from Iwo Jima, and many others.
Even though I'm an independent Republican, I still felt Gore worthy of winning his award for Best Documentary. Thank God it was only a joke when he pretended to announce his run for Presidency (I mean, yeah hes great with the enviornment, but do we really want a President who plays with flowers? Just kidding, please don't turn this blog into a political debate I do have respect for him

).
Anyway, thanks again for nothing Academy Awards... see ya next year!
