In you must go...
Up for discussion in tonight's blog, Luke's "dream" on Dagobah. I'm in a rather rush so you'll have to forgive any spelling mistakes. Let's begin:

Many have often wondered what is meant by the scene when Yoda sends Luke into "the cave" to face what lurks in it. To establish what Lucas' intention was, we look at two things, one being exactly why Yoda sent Luke into the cave, and the other being what the "dream" meant. To understand the latter, let us first take a look at why Yoda sent Luke into the cave (From this point on will be my actual theory and the case I use to present and prove it... enjoy). Yoda sent Luke into the Dagobah cave to force him to confront his fears and conquer them, as well as to test him to see if he truly knew the difference between evil and good, and the emotions that flow with them.

I think we can all pretty much agree that the reason Yoda had Luke go into the cave is to test his fears... that much is obvious. It is something all Jedi before the fall of the Republic must do during their trials, which is called the test of the spirit. In addition to this, not only does Yoda intend to test Luke against his fears, he also seeks to test Luke to see if he has advanced in his training to tell the "good side from the bad" and the emotions that flow with them.

Now my question for all of you is what do you think was Lucas' intent... for the whole scene to be a "hallucination" that Yoda created in Luke's mind or actually creating the figure. In my opinion, it's a hallucination and I'm sure most of you agree. If you don't, however, or have your own opinion on this matter feel free to comment.

Thanks in advance for reading and commenting.
