Dark Side vs. Light Side

hello all... i just got back from my grandpas wake and as i was sitting there i was thinking of Anakin trying to learn to pro-long padme's life/save her when an interesting thought struck me. For every light side power there is an equivelent dark side power.

For Example:

Force Heal (light side) = Force Drain (dark side)

So i thought to myself... if the jedi have the ability to become immortal and be spirits, there could be a dark side equivelent. and then it hit me:

Immortality (the ghost thing idr exactly what its called and how to spell it) is the light side while the ability to pro-long life is a dark side power!

Light Side = Immortal, Dark Side = Pro-long life.

This supports the theory that Palpatine is really, really old (for those of you who like that theory of how old he is) as well as supports that Plagueis did in fact learn to keep the ones he cared about from dying.

Think about it... Palpatine says that Plagueis "was able to keep the ones he cares about from dying." stop right there! keep them from dying- not make them immortal!!!! The Jedi discovered how to become immortal and the Sith discovered how to pro-long life.
I have no evidence proving this theory, but then again... there is no evidence saying it is wrong and it goes along with several other theories and it also goes along with Palpatines story.

jediknight- 2424: lol. ok. people were saying that the plagueis and palpatine could not know how to cheat death, because immortality (the ghost spirit thing) can only be achieved by peace and using the light side. but then i thought to myself... palpatine sed plagueis could keep the ones he cared about from dying (pro-long life... not be immortal spirit.) so the sith power is to pro-long life, while the jedi can turn into spirits and become immortal. get it now? if u dont e-mail me at littleeagle2032@aol.com

date Posted: Aug 25, 2005 4:45 PM in one of these interview-audio things, Lucas or McCallum explained that Palpatine, in fact, is not very very old. he hasn't been alive for over a century. i wish i could give you a more definite source but i believe it's in one of the audio pieces on Hyperspace.

you may not have implied yourself to believe that Palpatine was old but the theory you speak of does. i was refering to this piece (above). i was just stating that according to the creator or the producer of star wars, Palps was not very old, dispelling that theory.

date Posted: Aug 26, 2005 6:56 PM i believe what you said about how you heard him say he is not old. but my theory was meant to say that palpatine knows how to do it, but that doesnt mean he is necessarily old enough to have the need to use it. i'm jsut saying maybe he does have the power to.

I agree with everything, In KOTOR they show most of the dark side and light side powers and 99% of them have a counter force. The light side power of Immortal, I think it's called The Shaman of the Whills. Qui-Gon, Yoda, Obi-wan, and Anakin learned the Shaman of the Whills which makes them into a sprit kind of form.
One more thing is there a counter dark side power for force speed.

lol thanks. yea thats wut i meant about KOTOR. and your right about what its called in dark side (immortal/prolong life) and about light side (shaman of the whills). i didnt know how to spell shaman of the whills so i didnt wanna rite the name. plus i was too lazy. lol.

to answer your question about force speed- i beleive it is a universal power. in real life i think it is definatley universal, but if it is a light side power in KOTOR, then i guess there isnt a counter. but i think it is universal either way. thanks for commenting.

1. dark side choke- there are light side "defenses" to counter this power.
2. "jedi push" is not a force power. it is just "push". its a "univeral power" (used by both light and dark side.
3. anger to make you stronger- doesnt make any sense. anger doesnt make you stronger. the more good or more evil you are the stronger you are.

anger and the dark side is not more powerful than good and the light side. it is "quicker and more easier to use" it is also "more suductive" and "easier path to follow" since you do whatever the f*ck you want.

for example: with the dark side you can throw stuff fast and with ease. with the light side you can throw the same amount or weight of things, but not as easy and you need more concentration, but the dark side is not more powerful.

sorry if this is not a good enough explanation, I will be writing a better, more well-explained blog about which side is stronger once i rejoin hyperspace in december. if you liked this blog check out some of my others. thanks for commenting.
