Star Wars Robot Chicken Review
George Lucas: Uh... and I thought they smelt bad on the outside...
"Geeky" Fan [with lisp]: Just like in the movies!

As you all may know, there was a Robot Chicken Episode made recently involving Star Wars, one which I believe was sponsored or at least supported by George Lucas. I would like to just give a quick, personal review on the video and discuss your opinion on the subject. First off let me say that a lot of times I will not watch such films/videos, as I feel that they are mocking Star Wars and "giving it a bad name," but this was not the case. Although it mocked Star Wars, it did so in good taste. It seemed like they weren't making fun of Star Wars, but rather making jokes about it and seemed like fans just playing around.

I felt that it was very entertaining, specifically the Palatine-Vader conversation and the Taun-taun scene (forgive my spelling if I spelled taun-taun wrong I am in a rush and do not feel it necessary to look up the spelling). I think my favorite part was by far the "taun-taun impersonation," and the scene that followed. The lisp of the typical "geeky" Star Wars fan and the typical "fat slave girl" Star Wars fan, while a clear insult to fans, was very funny and in many cases true. When Lucas made the comment "... and I thought they smelt bad on the outside," I laughed and said "just like in the movie..."at the exact time as the "geeky fan" which just added to the comedy and showed a parallelism between myself and this "geeky fan" cartoon.

Overall I think it was in good taste and very entertaining. If you have not seen it, I suggest you watch it. Let me know your thoughts. Also, feel free to post and discuss your favorite scenes and quotes.

P.S. I had the hardest time finding a good picture for this blog, but I chose this one because of my favorite part of the Robot Chicken episode with the taun taun impersonation (once again forgive me if I spelled that wrong).

Robble robble robble robble!

:D

In that particular sketch, I thought the funniest part was George's little nervous dance when he's reluctant to get on the taun taun.

The costumes the fans had were hilarious, and I don't think it was insulting at all.

The creators of the show ARE huge Star Wars fans. They weren't making fun of it, they were making jokes with it. It really wasn't parody, it was just Star Wars jokes.

My favorite skit was with Ponda Baba. Priceless. And I'm wondering if the Taun Taun impersonation is referencing the guy on who impersonated a Taun Taun on Conan recently. Hmm.

Two of my favorite scenes are the Admiral Ackbar Cereal one and the Yo' Momma Fight scene.

Kids: I guess we'll just eat this boring old oatmeal.
Admiral Ackbar: Bursting through the door It's a trap!
