The day has finally arrived! After spending months reading as much as I could, I've finally reached the end of the Yuuzahn Vong War by completing the New Jedi Order series. Because of this, I can no longer view the Star Wars galaxy the same way again.
Up until the fall of Belkadan and Heska 4, the galaxy was a seemingly innocent place. It's occupants had to dealt with a simple conflict known as the Galactic Civil War. Before that, people bore witness to the great Jedi Purge. Further back, the Old Republic had to contend with a gathering of evil, Force-wielding Lords of the Sith. However, nothing could have prepared the multitude of races for a battle for their very existence.
The New Jedi Order is a lot to take in. After reading the final pages of The Unifying Force, I felt the need to sit back and reflect on how much the characters we know and love have changed dramatically. Luke, Han, Leia, Jacen and Jaina came out of the terrible and frightening conflict much different than they entered. What's interesting to me is that while the Yuuzahn Vong were no doubt evil and the devestation wrought upon the galaxy will no doubt last for generations, they did manage, for however brief it may be, to bring the galaxy together. Of course, I imagine this peace will not last, deserved as it might be. I now need to step into the world of Star Wars: Legacy and see what will befall our heroes. I've heard rumblings that a particular character finds himself journeying down the path of the Dark Side, which will be a most favorable thing to behold. The time is ripe for a new Sith rising...
Oh, before I close. Man was I THRILLED with Boba Fett's appearance in The Unifying Force. Talk about saving the BEST for last!
