People are crazy on eBay!!!
What is it with collectors? who purchase on the auction site and drive collection prices through the roof becuase little johnny REALLY needs that faded falcon dish for $14.99 +s&h? Is there anywhere on the world wide web that peeps can find parts etc. without having to battle it out with texas oil baron's?

Heh. I am very reserved about bidding on eBay. I set my upper limit for what I'll bid for an item and then stick to it. I've lost a lot of auctions that way, but usually, I end up saving myself money in the long run.

Some collectors are crazy though.

eBay's new campaigns ("Shop Victoriously" & "Its More Fun When You Win") are amusing but ridiculous. It is not more fun when you win if you overpaid.

I stay away from ebay whenever possible. For one I hate all the people using 3rd party sites like e-snipe that automatically keep edging up the bid. Plus having been burned before and ebay not doing anything to try and address the seller really bothered me. Why should I support their company when they simply turn a blind eye to fraud?

In the end, if you overpaid for any item, you only have yourself to blame. I think the silliest thing I ever saw on ebay was someone who paid $100+ for Transformers boxes. Mind you these were jus the boxes, already opened, and certainly without the Transformers themselves. My friend and I emailed the bidder to make sure he knew exactly what he was bidding on and he responded that somebody, someday would pay good money for empty boxes.

There is ioffer.com. At ioffer you make an offer for whatever someone has, instead of bidding up, you can actually offer $9 if someone has an item for $12, etc. (that was just a random example). I don't know how many parts they have, but you could check it out.

with texas oil baron's

Like me? ;) Just kidding.

Yeah, you're right, people on E-bay can go crazy. Typically, only my dad uses it to buy Harley-Davidson motorcycle parts. If ya want to see something crazy, you should have checked out DJ Maul's blog here. I think that the auction has since been closed, but the bidding on it was up to nearly 1 milion dollars.

I only use it sparingly, but I kinda like eBay. It's great for odd items that you can't find anywhere else... but for mass-marketed stuff, it can get a bit silly.

Well, this is my 1st "blog comment", and I'd have to say I agree with the blogger...a lot of ebayers are nuts. I purchase things here and there, but like Smuggler Jedi wrote, I set a limit, and stick to it. What ticks me off is the guys....and gals....that storm through store aisles and pick up ALL the latest releases just to make a few extra $$$ on an auction. The bad thing is Hasbro knows this, and they're part of the problem as well. Really, it's 2007, and how many Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi figures have been produced? And when Hasbro finally produces new figures, they do them in limited runs.....which in turn...drives ebay sellers. It's a viscious cycle that I've hated for years.

Hey Trooper19771 &all others who responded. Great comments by all and thanks for the hasbro heads up. Sometimes I buy doubles if i'm lucky enuf to see 2 at a store(toysruswalmartwinners)but this rarely happens.I do this for two reasons.Secondary is to have a mint item for future generations of jedi/sith but foremost so my son can open, assemble and actually play with these toys.Daddy ain't no 40 yr.old virgin! My passion for collecting is not to have the most toys its2have these items as keepsakes of memories(sappy)but thats the great thing about lucasland it can really bond generations of peeps.MAY ALL OF YOUR FAMILIES BE SAFE,HEALTHY & SPOILED ROTTEN THIS HOLIDAY SEASON.
