Light Sabers R Us (OK, I was lazy and recycled an LJ entry)
27 December 2005

Wow. Our house is trashed. It's not dirty; it just has wall to wall toys from the recent gift frenzy. A used some of his Christmas/birthday money to buy yet another Bionicle. He builds them then leaves them, so they end up ripped apart by his younger siblings and strewn around the house. Too bad the dog no longer chews up things left on the floor.

We're up to 10 lightsabers in the house. 5 that just extend (Mace, Yoda, Qui-gon, Anakin and Obi-wan), two that just light up (Darth Vader and Anakin), and three electronic ones that light up and make noise (Anakin/Darth Vader, Count Dooku and Build-your-own). Now, M wants to buy a "build your own" kit; apparently Count Dooku and Anakin/Darth Vader are not enough.

We just bought A a game-boy for his birthday (6); we also bought a Sponge-Bob game based on the recommendations of my SIL. My family also picked up a 3 pack of Pong, Asteroids and something else. The big day is Thursday. EDIT: A bought Lego Star wars with his own money. This is the only game he has actually played since the day he bought it.

In positive news, someone snuck a "Princess" backpack/papoose in under the radar. Good news is that E doesn't seem especially interested in it. She prefers running around with one of the (many) lightsabers making "lightsaber-y" noises, or "Roger, roger" followed by blaster noises. What a sweet two year old she is...

**********

A's birthday comes right after Christmas so we did manage to reach the 12 lightsaber count for the house. At this moment, I can't figure out what the new ones are, but naturally we could not return any. The way it boils down is that we have 4 lightsabers for each child, or 2 light sabers for every mammal in our home. Now, if we start assigning light sabers to the fish (couldn't use the electronic ones very well, now could we?) THEN we might run into a shortage. I wonder if Target is still open...
