I know there was a blog about the names we choose before. I'm here to tell you where I got my userid.
My given name is Dawn. I don't like it. I never disliked it enough to change it, but I always wished I had a name that could be "longer" for formal occasions, or shorter for my friends. But that's it. Dawn.
It bars me for the most part of making certain comments that are in our language. I never say, for instance, that "it just dawned on me." To me, that's as odd as saying "it just freded on me." It doesn't make sense.
Dawn is also a very specific name from an age standpoint. I've never met a Dawn that wasn't born within two years of me, plus or minus. I graduated with 6 other Dawns in a class of 186.
FWIW, all of our children have "long form" and "short form" names.
Now, the solstice part is easy. Summer solstice is my birthday. I'm no polytheist, but it makes sense to recognise my birthday, since it falls on what is to most an obscure "holiday," if it can even be called that.
My mom used to always say "Dawn was born on the longest day of the year. It sure was for me

"
So, here I am. Solsticedawn.
