Okay, so I've finally seen the movie and remembered why I thought it was so alike. And it's not just the plot!

Galbatorix killing almost all the Riders, who were protectors of the land vs. Darth Vader killing almost all the Jedi, who were protectors of the galaxy.

Eragon's uncle was killed by the Empire when they searched for the egg vs. Luke's aunt and uncle were killed by the Empire when they searched for the droids!

Hmm...

The Varden rose against the Empire vs. The Rebel Alliance rose against the Empire.

Brom vs. Obi-Wan Heck, they even look alike!!

Sunset scene. I'm telling ya. same direction. only difference: Eragon is sitting down and there's one sun instead of two.

Eragon: farm boy vs. Luke farm boy

And Luke and Eragon both have blue eyes, blond hair, and the same haircut!!!!!!

AAAACCKK!!!! And I meant to get Eldest when we went shopping today!!!! Oh darn!!!! That just allows me to finish Exile!
