What should KOTOR 3 add?

Ah Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic, where would Star Wars gaming be without these games?

As the Force Unleashed becomes the next big Star Wars Jedi Knight action game after Jedi Academy I think its time to take another look at at the RPG side of Star Wars once again. Star Wars Galaxies had too many flaws to keep people engaged and there hasn't been a new KOTOR game since 2005.

But hey, good things take time (well Vista did whether or not its a good example is debatable but note I'm writing this from a Vista PC so either I'm a sucker for good tech or... never mind) and since KOTOR III is going to take time what features should be added?

I've got my list which I'll share and I look forward to hearing people's ideas.

1. Full free-flowing gameplay (Oblivion style.) While a lot harder to create in a Sci-fi universe I feel it can be done. Obviously this would be hard going but hey its a free world and I can dream. This would hopefully not detract from the cinematic experience of the game.

2. Non-human protagonist: Oh come on how many of you have wanted Zaalbar with a lightsaber!!!! Hey I don't mind playing as humans but adding other races as the main character would be interesting.

3. Multiplayer gameplay both LAN and online. This would allow for some very interesting situations which could be enjoyed again and again. But then again I don't want to overcomplicate the design process.

4. A story involving the origins of the Sith and Jedi and how their codes affect the path your character takes. As with the previous two your actions will affect the way your character is aligned but at the same time if you let your passions control your decisions then you could end up like Anakin, a victim of the Sith.

5. OK, Number 5 the big one, yep this is where people may really think I am insane (for the record I'm not just really enjoy putting out far fetched ideas) You start as a child and you grow up in the Jedi temple or wherever like Fable's original design concept.

1- I want a game like that, but I want my KOTOR

2- For sure! When's the last time there's been a game with a non-human protagonist that actually got well developed. Jaden Korr was the closest we got, and that was pretty shallow.

3-Again, great, but it wouldn't work with KOTOR, IMO.

4- Yes! There's so much to be done with game storytelling of a Jedi's choices.

5-Meh, I didn't think that part of Fable was that great, even in theory. It's hard to simulate a lifetime of experience in a reasonable timeframe. If they did it, tough, then wow.

I hadn't seen that KOTF thing. Way cool!

5-You could start as a padawan in the Temple, very close to becoming a knight, and at the start of the game, you would travel with your master.

But one thing I didn't like about either KotOR games was that wether you were good or bad, you went to the same places and did the same things. I went through the first game as evil trying to join the Sith. In a new game, I want to start as an insignificant charachter and work my way up the ranks of either jedi or sith.

date Posted: May 04, 2008 10:54 AM Not bad ideas. I would like to see the conclusion of the story that's been told through KOTOR 1 and 2. If you ask me, KOTOR 3 has to continue the story because KOTOR 2 ended so poorly. Perhaps a multiplayer option, one plays as Revan and the other as the Exile. A non-human main character wouldn't be a bad idea, but.......

date Posted: Jun 23, 2008 8:52 PM well, I don't know about you guys, but i think that they should add a customization segment. I like games where you can create a character to almost look like you, or your mom or girlfriend, or some imaginary person, like a muscular guy, or busty girl. Have long or short hair, slim or wide waste. That would be nice and way better than just choosing the face.
