So it's official, I've been collecting for close to 10 years now. I can't believe Hasbro is still going and so many new licensees have joined the Lucasfilm family, offering us an even wider selection of great collectibles to choose from. From Lightsaber replicas to action figures, there is something for everyone!
My collecting habits have changed dramtically over the years. What started as a MOMC collection is nothing more than loose figures, autographs, t-shirts and anything and everythign R2-D2 related. I've seen so many other people change their collecting habits as well. Entire collections liquidated, high end items sold off, loose toys practically given away.
What makes people change their collecting habits? Marriage, new family, bills are all major factors, but for some it is simply an attempt to keep on enjoying the hobby itself. I know many guys who do not collect toys anymore, but have every item known to exist from Master Replicas. I feel many folks are looking for that next feel good item and with so many licensees to choose from these days it sometimes might take them changing their collecting focus multiple times.
Either way I simply enjoy collecting what I like, when I like. I think others are taking this route as well in today's collecting community too. Sure I won't have all 1200 plus action figures MOMC but I have a buddy who does and if I ever feel the need to look at them all I'll just give him a call!
So to all you collectors out there searching for the latest and greatest, step back, take a break, have fun with what you collect, and keep on truckin'!
