Short interview with me on the Force-cast tonight, and now some Indy thoughts....
So Pete at The Forcecast is going to interview me tonight on my work for Lucas Licensing and the upcoming Topps Clone Wars sketchcards.

I probably won't get to talk too much about Indy, so here are my initial thoughts.
For some people it was slave Leia, for me it was Marion Ravenwood.
Especially Marion. She has the greatest smile and wonderful freckles, but she was also a great character that felt well rounded as soon as she hit the screen. she needed Indy in the end, but for years she took care of herself, tough as nails and could out drink anyone.

So I wish I had seen more of that character in the new Indiana Jones. It was great seeing her and my crush is still there, but I wanted her tougher and not so easily smitten. With a slight character arc. In fact perhaps more character arcs for the entire cast especially Mutt. Mutt is the Luke Skywalker who is seeing this new world for the first time. We should be from his perspective seeing Indy as a super hero or jedi. Something Mutt could never be at first and by the end realizing a glimpse of knowledge of a greater world.

Indiana Jones and The Temple of Crystal Skull is fun and about half way through, starts really feeling like an Indy film. Everyone should go see it. But my expectations and 20 years in the making have left me wanting more. I'm proud to have worked on promotional artwork for it. I think this film is better than the last two, but is not the magic in the bottle that is Raiders (and really how could it be?). When I left the movie theater with my friend Luke, he commented he wished he had seen this one when he was twelve and I agreed.

Btw, the second time around I just let myself flow and enjoyed it. There are some wonky parts, but I left the theater having a fun time, and that's what it's really all about.

Surprisingly, I think that Mutt actually saved the movie. Not that Indy and the others didn't do well, it's just that he provided the soul and comedy that all Indy films must have. It ranks 2nd on my list of Indy films.

I agree Mutt is pretty good. I just wanted a little more character development. Ranks #2 for me too.

I've seen KOTCS twice now, too, and loved it both times. FUN movie! I just sit back and let it happen and would happily see it again... and again... etc. ;)

I'll be sure to check you out on The Forcecast!
