 | bringing balance to the force (a new blogger...) |
Hello there!
Well, well, this is my first blog here in the galaxy far, far away. For months I´ve been reading the blogs of so many fans and enjoyed it very much. I had my laughs and my oohhhs and ahhs. And for a very long time I´ve been wanting to write a blog. But I always came to that conclusion that I had nothing to say or write about. Still there is one thing that I have been thinking about. After watching ROTS for not so the very first time I thought about this prophecy. What exactly does it means, this bringing balance to the force? So, after many thoughts I came to the conclussion that the prophecy could well have been misread by the Jedi in that sense that it was the Jedi who needed some balancing. As I read the ROTS novel it is clear (when Yoda realizes that the Sith did indeed evolved and sought new ways in the dark side of the Force but the Jedi more or less kept their old ways) that it was time for a new beginning, sadly for the galaxy a high price had to be paid.
And as it is in real life many tears had to be shedd and many gave their lifes for a better future, a new hope...
may the force be with you all,
yours sincerly,
a strongminded jedi

Welcome to Star Wars Blogging! I can't wait to read your future blogs.
I don't think anyone on the Jedi council knew what "bringing balance" was. They just knew the chosen one would, some day, fullfill his destiny and save us all. But no one knew how, or why.
I'm Miniforce, again, welcome to Star Wars Blogging!

I guess there will be no mind tricks on you strongminded one! Welcome, and I agree that the Jedi needed some re-balancing, and that the prophecy refered to them having to change and evolve though they didn't know it. Nice entry.

Hey, there, Strongminded! Welcome!!
Interesting view on the prophesy! That's the thing about prophesies is that you never know what the true meaning of them is. I like your take on it, though. The Jedi order certainly needed an overhaul! They had become quite stagnant in their ways and were not looking at anything with fresh eyes any longer even when people attempted to do so, such as Qui-gon.
Excellent first blog! Glad to see you here!

Welcome to Blogsville Strongminded!
I agree that the Jedi order needed a Fresh Beginning, at a terribly high cost. Wonderful first entry...and look forward to your future ones as well.

I will echo the glad tidings of my fellow bloggers, and wish you a warm welcome to our blogging ranks!
Your thoughts about the prophecy are right on target. Even Yoda expressed similar musings . . . that maybe the Jedi had been misreading/misinterpreting the prophecy all along. Hmmm, mull this over we all should!
Again, welcome!

Yes, yes...welcome!! I will be sure to check out your future entries.
I like your take on the prophecy...it makes sense. I agree with HG3 that the thing with prophecies is that they can be misread, misinterpreted, and mean one thing to one person and something completley different to another person (I hope that made sense ). The Jedi did need an awakening of sorts...too bad it came the way it did

Welcome to our community!!! Here you will have a nice time and everybody is awfully nice. And yes I believe that the Jedi needed some changes. It's a shame it was done in such a cruel manner.

Hello, strongminded!
Great blog! Too bad Yoda never got the chance to change the Jedi... that would've been very interesting.
But I was wondering, was your 'Hello There' at the beginning purposely an Obi-Wan quote? (He says that in episode III and IV.)
I hope you write a lot more blogs!

To Green I Am:
Actually, Yoda is one of my favorite characters. Though I didn't like he´s approach on some topics, I'll always see him as a very powerfull, down to earth, peacefull Jedi.
To Captain Kenobi:
Absolutely. I am STAR WARS lover, do I need to say more!
THANKS TO YOU ALL FOR SUCH A WARM WELCOMING!

Welcome! You've touched on a great subject, strongminded. I've always wondered why the Jedi (with great Masters like Mace, Yoda, and Obi) didn't consider that the Force was unbalanced, just in their favor. And of course I echo all the other great commenters about the misreading of the prophecy.
Again, welcome!!

Mr Fett Please Sir, can I have some more?

Hi there Strongminded!
We appear to be on the same journey, you and I (what with starting our blogs so close together and all )
In response to your blog, I firmly believe that the Jedi correctly read the prophesy but misunderstood it.
Anakin did bring balance to the force. I don't disagree with your comments that the Jedi had become, in many ways, stagnant but I do feel that the Jedi order was about balance and harmony.
So, from one perspective (Perhaps the more obvious one), the balance could mean equal parts Sith and Jedi. If that's true, then Anakin more or less balanced the force in two ways: (To be continued)

(Continued) By assisting in wiping out the main Jedi with the exception of Obi Wan and Yoda he balanced the Jedi against two sith (He and Sidious, obviously). Then, even as Luke came to the fore, Vader destroyed Obi Wan. Good job Anakin!
That said, I prefer to believe that true balance could only be achieved by destroying the Sith in favour of the Jedi. If that is true, then again Anakin achieved this by destroying Sidious. Since he himself had turned, the destruction of Sidious resulted in balance by this definition. Good job Anakin!
I suppose it could be argued that these events were the result of Luke's actions but again, whose fault is it that Luke was conceived? Anakins! Good job Anakin!
Who's with me?

Hi again Strongminded. I got your post over at my RC Post ( http://blogs.starwars.com/Caine/2)
"I'm actually not going to comment on this blog (for I don't play) but on the one you commented on my blog (balance to the force...). Good point you made there about the two and two view. Never thought about that like that. It has of course to be a fair game, doesn´t it! Two Jedi and two Siths. Good point!"
Thanks Although, of all the theories I presented, I prefer to think it was Anakin's destruction of Sidious that served the prophecy in the end.
