Does Artoo taste better in the DVD than in the original release?
In the original release of
The Empire Strikes Back, after the swamp monster spits Artoo out, Luke tells him, "You're lucky you don't taste very good." Now he says, "You were lucky to get out of there." Apparently, the swamp monster (is that the dragon snake?) doesn't object to Artoo's taste anymore.
I miss the old version. It was funnier. I know there
could be an artistic reason George wanted to change it, but I can't think of one. It seems like exactly the sort of cute, innocent farmboy humor Luke would use, and I've never heard of anyone being offended by it. It's even the same length. It might have been a technical reason; maybe the alternate take was just easier to clean up or transfer to DVD or something. I'm not technically savvy enough to know exactly what reason would be, though.
Does anyone know why Artoo got tastier?
