LotF: What we know so far II: Series Storyline
As my LotF blog is becoming rather lengthy, I decided to split it into segments to make it both more manageable for me to update and more readable for anyone interested. The original blog is now simply the Background and Publishing Schedule, this one relates to the storyline and additional ones will deal with the books as and when we know the titles.

Series Storyline

The first time we were given real information about the storyline was at CIII in May 2005. The series title Legacy of the Force was announced as was the 100 plus year Legacy Era. From the formal starwars.com report:

Here's what was said: the main characters of the classic saga will return -- Luke, Leia, Han, Jacen, Jaina, and Mara. Among the NJO Jedi veterans returning would be Saba Sebatyne and Tenel Ka. "If my name's on the cover, you're likely to see Wedge in there somewhere," said Allston.

"Those of you who know me will know that there's some things that I can't do without in a book," said Traviss. "Boba's back." She would later add to expect the Mandalorians as well.

Sue Rostoni confirmed that a character will return from a long EU hiatus: the former Shira Brie a.k.a. Lumiya. Rostoni also added, "The mystery of Vergere will be revealed."

Coruscant will continue to undergo reconstruction from the Yuuzhan Vong invasion, and the Galactic Alliance will weather internal pressures. For fans that wonder about how the principal characters will age gracefully, Allston provided some guidance.

For those who are unaware of the background to Shira Brie aka Lumiya, here's her databank entry.

Leland Chee (Tasty Taste) later confirmed that it will be set 40 years after the Battle of Yavin.

Informal information regarding what was said by the authors on the panel at CIII was posted in the series speculation thread:

Something so major and incendiary will occur during the Legacy of the Force series that we cannot even mention what it is.
