The New Rebellion was written by Kristine Kathryn Rush and was published at the end of 1996. It was set 17 years ABY.
The book is being discussed in the BC&T forum
here and more infomation including the blurb can be found
here.
This book, together with the Black Fleet Crisis trilogy, are amongst the few Star Wars books that I have only read once, although I actually quite enjoyed it once it got going.
I posted my thoughts
here:
After not really enjoying the beginning of the book (it could hardly be called a slow beginning, but for some reason it took me awhile to get into it), I ended up quite enjoying this book.
I particularly enjoyed Leia's role in the second half of the book, and the droids involvement, whilst even more unrealistic than usual, was really well done. It's a shame that Cole Fardreamer seems to have sunk into obscurity since then.
Luke's characterisation was better in this book than most of the others since the JAT, but his role was still surprisingly light on IMO.
It was amusing to see the pre-retcon version of the Lando and Mara relationship at the beginning of the book.
Whilst not one of my favourites, it was definitely worth reading.
If anyone wants a detailed summary of the book (with spoilers) I posted one about half a dozen posts after I posted my general thoughts.
