"The ability to mail a letter is insignificant next to the power of the Force!"
The date: May 25, 2007
The time: 09:05:09 AM
The place: United States Post Office, Tice Branch, Fort Myers, Florida

It was on this day, at this time and place that I, smithversusneo, aquired two sheets of the just released Star Wars stamps. :D

As I approached the counter, noticing on my way no sign of the stamps I sought, I asked the clerk for ten 2 cent stamps (as you might have guessed, I'm STILL trying to get rid of my 39 cent ones), and I asked, "Do you have any of the Star Wars stamps yet?" Her reply was, "You know, I'm not sure... I'm not sure if Bob brought them out yet. Wait one moment." I was more than happy to oblige.

As the clerk left her post, I noticed how I have inadventently held up an already steady forming line by my inquiry, but hey, it was May 25th, and I was not about to take chance on losing out.

After about 3 - 4 minutes, the clerk returns, with an unopened (still in cellophane) package of stamps, and as she began to tear them away from their plastic prison, she remarked how she could almost hear the Star Wars theme playing in her head. (Seriously! Would I lie to you?)

Anyway, she made a point to tell me, as she scanned in the two sheets of stamps I requested, "You know, that makes you the FIRST to buy them here at this location."

Well that's cool. I mean, I've never made to the first in line to see any of the Star Wars films, so if this had to be my symbolic Star Wars claim-to-fame (okay, perhaps 15 seconds worth) then so be it.

And by the way... I won't be using any of my Star Wars stamps for letters... that's what the 2 cent stamps were for. ;)
