Information Overload
I'm a Boba Fett fan, He is my favourite character from any film.. EVER, (don't let my Avatar fool you) and he has been since I first saw ESB way back when.

O.k. It's somewhere between 1986 and 1989 and I'm between 5 and 8 years old. (I can't remember exacty, I didn't take notes, didn't think I'd need to.)

Just after seeing ESB, All I knew was Boba was this dark, mysterious character who looked really cool and actually captured the 'hero' from ANH that managed to shoot down the mighty Darth Vader to let his mate blow up the Death Star and save the Rebellion.. 'WOW, this guy must be something special'

But what hooked me in? I didn't know who he was, I didn't know what he looked like, where he came from, how old he was, whether he was a 'he'. I knew next to nothing about this Bounty Hunter.

That's it.. the mystery!, the Enigma! My imagination could run riot, he was whatever I wanted him to be.

Now, Fast Forward about 20ish years to 2006

Almost everything that I didn't know has been explained to me through Films, Books, Magazines and the Internet.

Now I know that he is a clone of a great Mandalorian warrior and Bounty Hunter, he was 'born' on Kamino, he is a very intelligent and cunning warrior and ruthless bounty hunter but compassionate when not on the hunt.. like when he saved children from a burning school. plus so much more (but i'm not going into all that now.)

Nearly all of the reasons that I liked Boba Fett all those years ago have evaporated with every book or film that I've seen and have been replaced with a new appreciation that keeps Boba Fett at the top of my all time list of favourite characters.

So how can a character who has changed so much in my opinion remain so fervently at the top of my list?

Boba's awesome! I can't wait until Bloodlines comes out. He will play a big role in that book.

I sort of miss my buckethead enigma, but I suppose they haven't done a bad job with his backstory. So I'll just let out a resounding "meh". And be only slightly disappointed they managed to kill two bucketheads with one stone (Vader and Fett) with the Prequels :p

Well, Lucas certainly didn't agree with the EU on Boba Fett. I think both should have left him a mystery, but Lucas made a good moral lesson out of him.

Yeah, speaking of which, George, I couldn't give a flying monkey's what you said, Boba Fett DID escape the Sarlacc.

You should never of sunk him in the first place!

Lucas has actually stated somewhere that he almost inserted a scene into the DVD of Boba launching out of the Sarlacc. Since Boba's become so popular he considers his survival at least to be canon.

Boba's still cool, even if he's really just a Jango retread...jk! Do you think Boba or Jango ever took their bounties back to Kamino so they could be cloned? I mean, you could rake in a bundle if someone they captured was wanted by more than one organization. :D

I preferred the mystery of Boba Fett myself. I havent really read much of him in the EU, but I know a lot about it thanks to (like you) the web, SWTG, the NEC etc. and of course a lot changed with the PT.

You should never of sunk him in the first place!

It was sort of a lame way to go. It was just so anticlimatic. But I preferred him dead (c'mon - he was the bad guy!).:p

No, he wasn't the bad guy. He was just doing his job.. It wasn't his fault that he loved it!

Nah - He wanted to get Solo bad. He wouldnt of chosen that job if it werent so. Now with the PT, we have the insinuation that it was even more than that - Boba wanted to bring down Solo and Skywalker to avenge Jango. Boba didnt like no Jedi scum, or their friends :p

That doesn't make him a bad guy,

Look at Luke in ANH, the first thought in his mind after the stormtroopers killed Owen and Beru was.. that's right, REVENGE!

And Obi Wan, after Maul took down Qui Gon. Obi Wan got angry and wanted revenge. (although he was trying to kill Maul anyway) It gave him energy.

I can feel you're anger! It gives you focus!

Ha! Yeah, he was the mysterious one... I liked him so much that I was excited to see his background unfold in the movies though! My kids were able to identify with him too, seeing him as a kid. I think that was a cool way to bring another generation into SW.
