 | This isn't about Star Wars or Blogging |
Hello Peep's
I'm going to start this Blog with a non Star Wars topic and something of a trivial point to most readers. The British Union Flag sometimes (wrongly) named the Union 'Jack' celebrates it's 400th birthday today so I'm feeling (somewhat surprisingly) Patriotic today, We don't really have too much to celebrate in terms of heritage on a daily basis, so the slightest thing pops up, and I run with it!
My imagination has already shown me bright idols of Nelson flying the Union Jack at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805, Captain Robert Scott proudly marching the flag to the South Pole in 1912 and Sir Edmund Hillary 'hauling' the standard to the top of Mount Everest on his pioneering ascent in 1953. I've read that it was also used in the first flag of the United States, The Grand Union Flag, Fantastic things to put a lump in the throat of any proud Brit.
But what association will be etched into the young minds of our nations youth? Yes that stupid dress that Ginger Spice 'fell out of' at the 1996 Brit Awards.. No justice!
Now I've completely forgotten what my Star Wars link was so I'll do that later!
It's been jolly spiffing sharing my thoughts.
Thank's awfully for reading old bean!
Cheerio!
