Star Wars.. eh!?!

I love it! Other than my Football team, Liverpool FC, Nothing can make me so happy, excited, annoyed and frustrated yet still retain my unflinching loyalty.
But what is Star Wars, what is in the story that keeps us hooked?

I think it's because, to paraphrase ESB..

Luke ~ What's in there?
Yoda ~ Only what you take with you!

It is what you make of it!

I refuse to believe that there is one story and everything that's written or seen is undeniable FACT. And I'm never too impressed when any idea or perception is greeted with
"No, that's wrong because in this book.. that happened!"

There are many, many GFFA out there and I don't think anyone agrees 100% with anyone else's ideas, and therein lies the beauty.

In George Lucas' Star Wars, it seems Mace died when he was chucked out of the window on Coruscant, Boba Fett perished in the Sarlacc and Jar Jar Binks was an adorable vehicle for comic relief.

In MY Star Wars, Mace survived the night of Order 66 and was later killed in a most undignified manner by Boba Fett, bent on avenging his father, who later went on to escape the Sarlacc by some ingenious method known only to him, and Jar Jar was an irritation that I continue to dislike (though not to the extent that I used to!)

Now.. there are people who agree with me on those, there are people who agree with GL and some who take points from both..

But who's right and who's wrong?

Well.. we are all right, regardless of our personal convictions.

There are purists who believe that canon is the only way to go, and are well within their rights to do so, but I think that goes against the very essence of what Star Wars is about.
It's a Fantasy.. so fantasize! let your mind wander, don't be constrained by what you see on a screen or read in a book, be inspired by it!

If you want to believe that Jar Jar was in cahoots with Palpatine, and deliberately got banished from Otoh Gunga so he could win the pity of Qui-Gon and get him in with Padme in order to conspire against the Republic.. Then don't let anyone convince you otherwise.
