Slowly Turning To The Dark Side! turns '50'

So, Slowly Turning To The Dark Side! is Fifty Blogs old, Count them, 50.. actually don't count them because there's only 42 (I'll come to that later!)

What I thought I'd write about on this Blog, is the highs and lows of JediMasterPickles' journey from his day's as a padawan Blogger, I'm not going through every Blog just, what I feel are, the imporant ones in my development.. So here goes!

My name.. Some people have asked where my name came from and whether it is a EU character that they have yet to meet. It's nothing that interesting, My real life nickname is Pickles and I gave it the 'Jedi Master' prefix.

My Blog name.. Again there's no real story behind it, I just thought it sounded cool at the time!

I became a Hyperspace Member in August of last year without really knowing what it was all about, I thought it was just a fan club where you get a few E-Mails about the latest info to come out of 'Lucas House' and maybe a pack in the post.. Oh, how wrong I was!
I received no such pack!

So I thought I'd delve in and see what all this Hyperspace malarkey was all about, and it was good, seeing all of the insider knowledge and backstage footage. With George, Rick and the crew talking about the 'Ins and Outs' of ROTS.

I noticed the link for Blogs on the Star Wars Homepage, but I'd never heard of a Blog before and just thought it was a place where professional writers and journalists write about what they get paid to like or dislike about Star Wars, so I didn't bother with it for a long time, until November 12th when a title and intro caught my eye, It said.. well I can't actually remember what it said or who wrote it but it was good! So I thought I'd have a look to see it there were any other good articles, and that's when I realised that these were just Fans venting their spleens, discussing Star Wars or just having fun.

So I decided to have a go, now one of the main themes of the time was the resurrection of Anakin Skywalker at the end of ROTJ. I countered this argument with My first ever attempt at a Blog Darth Vader.. Martyr or Just Unfortunate? (You'll have to read it for the contents) but it made it to the Star Wars Homepage, 'Top of the Pops' and I was well chuffed!

I deleted my second blog for some reason and can't even remember what is was about now, so Blog 3 was, and still is a rant about Jar Jar, titled Why? George, Why? But I'm over that now so I'll leave that where it is. I will say though that this also made the home page.. It's Easy this Blogging Lark! *Ahem*

I followed this up (Now with a need for Comments) with a few 'Question' Blogs, asking what everybody's favourite or most poignant moments 'Magic Moments' in the Saga were.. Surely another Homer.. Nope, only 15 replies in a month. I was devastated! (Had I 'lost it?' did I ever have it? or was I just lucky?) I'd become accustomed to replies, I needed replies! So I had to hit back quickly again so I went with a definite Hot Topic.. The Future of Star Wars! So I quickly bashed out a short blog called With or without George? Success again! Not only did I get on the home page but I also filled all of my comment allocation, so I opened Part 2 which used up the comment allocation and even managed to squeeze out aPart 3. Oh this really is easy!
Move aside everyone.. JMP Is in town!

Suddenly I hit a wall! I couldn't think of anything to write about, How was I going to top a three Blog topic? a few very poor efforts followed.. I was scraping the barrel so hard that I had splinters!

Then, I turned to the Dark Side.. I read a fantastic article in the English Star Wars Magazine, titled 'the History of Mandalorians' written by some guy named Abel G. Pena. I thought It was absolutely fascinating, so why not share it with my friends at starwars.com In Blog form?
I'll tell you why.. It's wrong! (well the way I did it was!) If you'd like, the Author, that I soon realised to be Halagad can elaborate a bit! Here.
My Blogs have all been deleted now.. hence the gap!
I wrote an apology on his Blog Comments but this hardly seemed sufficient so I wrote an apology Blog (Mr Pena was extremely gracious about the whole thing and I am still very grateful for that!)

Trying to lighten the mood a bit, I posted a blog about something I saw on telly (Using my own words and everything.) About whether people can read sentences if only the first and last letters of each word are in the right place take a look

The next is now a complete fallacy, I had the bright idea of reading all of the 'movie timeline' novels, I'm still not passed Cloak of Deception!
I've realised that I'm just not a big fan of reading novels.
But I will have a go at turning Christmas Songs into Star Wars related ones.. so I wrote this Not great, but an effort none the less.

A three month trip away with work at the start of the year, meant I hardly got the chance to blog, but I received a warmer than expected welcome back.
I wrote a quickie about how Boba Fett has remained my favourite movie character even though he's a completely different person to me now. Followed by how I thought that there needed to be a prophecy in order for it to become a 'reality' in the GFFA

The next one came after a misunderstanding with another Blogger due to the lack of intonation in writing, So I wrote this about how important Yodacrons are to get the right point across!

As an extention to my Previous blog With or without George I asked How will GL handle the series? (pretty self explanatory) so I'll move on..
I decided to contradict my first blog by suggesting the exact moment that Vader turned back to the light side and save Luke because he was actually good person. here

My next Blog received some possitive and negative feedback so it was as inspired decision, calling it Controversial thoughts!?! I made the point that the GFFA doesn't have to be black and white, there is a lot of circumstances that are up for debate and everyone can take what they like from Star Wars even if you are alone in your thoughts. Justifying my point, people disagreed, and that's good! never the less, I stand by it!

This one has nothing to do with Blogging or Star Wars but I do want to give mention to
A Personal Blog where I had a week long, sneak preview into looking after children.. (I have a new Stormtrooper Standee and I've replaced the Dalek!) Now it's all in the past, I can look back and laugh about it!

The 10 person Blog Roll, doesn't always seem quite enough does it? But what ya gonna do?
You could do this!
I constantly update it so if you aren't on there, let me know, and you soon will be!

Well that's about it really! So, what have I learned during my time on here? Not a lot really! I do know that there are many different people on here each with differing styles of Blog and I hope that I have filled most off the criteria, the most important one being entertaining!

Also there are mostly decent people in the PLB (Am I still allowed to call us that?) I like to think that I've made some friends on here and some friends have helped make me.. so thanks!

If you got this far, thanks for sticking with it!

50 Blogs in, how did I do?
Don't be nice and don't be offensive! just be honest.. thanks!

Here's to another 50!

Cheers!
