I am a firm believer that GL is the only one who can do Star Wars. It has an authenticity and originality, a sort of "feel" that other movies don't have, that is totally dedicated to two factors. One the creative inspiration of GL in his storytelling and two the overwhelming input and development from fans, ILM, and all of Lucasfilm ltd. Any future movies would have to be done by him in order to maintain the series. May the Force be with you.

I agree that Star Wars now is only what it is through Lucas' and Lucasfilms' firm grip on copyright and continuity (of some sorts). What GL did is simply incredible, the franchise now prospers and proclaims itself to last forever...and an iportant part of the money makinmachine is merchandise (over the years the amounts earned through the products surelylargely exceed the box office!!!) And an imporant part of this success is he ongoing storytelling i every medium...

I would be interested to know the story between EP III and EP IV; Leia's growing up, Luke's growing up, how the Rebels affected the Empire. Perhaps even side stories about the Jedi who managed to escape Order 66. Also how the Empire continues to take control under the rule of Palpatine and Vader would be interested. as for EP VII...it would merely be for the purpose of making money; the story of Anakin Skywalker's descent and redemption has been told; the main villain is dead and the others will obviously go off and make a New Republic/Jedi Order. Happy Ever After.

...whatever criticists of the EU, pure movie supporters, say, you cannot neglect the richess that comics, computer games, role playing and novels caused!!! To make long things short: It would be an economic disaster if the brand Star Wars would not be continued in either or both most common mass medias today: TV and Motion Picture. The thirst for more stories is there (see boo and comic sales...),so if you can find artistically satisfying ways to narrate new worthwhile adventures (post, pre or in between the movies, I'llconsume all ), just do it!

from a film freak's point of view I think TESB was the best directed Film of the saga in terms of drama(by Irvin Kershner), whereas Episode 4 showed some kind of optical brilliance (frames, composition) that the others lack...Don't get me wrong, I love every Episode, even No 1...my point is, other directors could really add something to the saga! As long as there is a brilliant script (e Prequels could have been tighter, wat do you think???)

I love the EU as much as the movies. The EU should continue, but not the movies. Everything will have to stop someday, however. Seriously, are Luke, Han, and Leia going to live forever? In our hearts and in the stories yes, but they are eventually going to die of old age!

Son of a Bith ( wa nice name ):
Ya i agree, Movies should not continue, but EU should!
I love EU even more than movies!
Anyway, as i mentioned in another blog, GL is a great story
creator, but not relatively that good in presenting the story.
(And not that good a movie director honestly...)
If he gave his prequel scripts to other great directors, i suspect
the Prequels would receive less critics

While I'm a staunch suporter of the idea of more star wars movies,(minus jar-jar and episode 3esque diologue,) sw should not continue w/o GL. He is the heart and soul of SW!

My first post! How about a movie dealing with the formation of the Republic? GL should write the script but how about Speilberg or Jackson directing?

Even Kevin Smith. At least we know, in my opinion the dialogue would be less stiff.
