Another Numbers Game
(cross-posted on Bob's CUSWE Blog)

Yesterday, I added forty new entries, and modified another thirty-three entries, while reading through Republic Commando: Triple Zero. I got all the way up to the last four pages, so there are a couple more ticky-marks to go over... primarily Jinart's mission from Kal Skirata. (Sorry, no spoilers!)

Then, of course, I asked myself a dangerous question: How does this rank in terms of most entries per day? Now, talk about a time-wasting endeavor! Luckily, with everything in a database, I was able to run a few quick queries to find the data, plus a lot more:

28,960 entries have "never" been updated beyond their original text. In other words, the LastDateModified field is blank. This number might be a bit misleading, because I will blank out a modified date if all I do is fix punctuation or formatting. But, that doesn't really count as updating the information, does it?

2,254 entries have the mysterious 7/10/2002 date for their last modification. This date, of course, only indicates that the entry was altered during the initial formatting of the database to conform to the needs of the layout. A 7/10/2002 date indicates that no changes were made to the actual content of the entry.

Top Input in a Single Day:
676 on 03/02/2006 - Mando'a glossary
516 on 06/22/2004 - Galactic Campaign Guide (names and such)
504 on 06/23/2004 - Galactic Campaign Guide

Most Entries From a Single Source:
1,918 from Galactic Campaign Guide
1,213 from the Official Website
1,110 from Star Wars Galaxies: Jump to Lightspeed Prima Guide
1,045 from Ultimate Alien Anthology

By Year:
4519 so far in 2006
5780 in 2005
6787 in 2004
5541 in 2003

What can you or I do with this data? Well, truth be told, absolutely nothing. It's just another set of useless facts. However, they're fun to know, as sort of a benchmark for my work. See, I can tell that chances are good the 2006 will be my most prolific year yet. All that means is that you, the reader, will be able to find that much more stuff in the encyclopedia. Sorta like an early Christmas present...!

useless facts

Yes, more trivia! Now if they start selling the Star Wars Trivial Pursuit: Hyperspace Edition, I'll be ready to dominate the competition.

See, I can tell that chances are good the 2006 will be my most prolific year yet.

And we care because...;)

God Bless,

May the Force be with you, always...
