I just got back from the 12:30pm showing of
Revenge of the Sith, and I have to say that I would rank it #3 among the six episodes, behind
The Empire Strikes Back and
A New Hope. I have to say that I'm almost the complete opposite on what I thought was bad about the film to many of the online reviewers... with the exception of the music. It just felt odd hearing "Duel of the Fates" during the Yoda/Sidious battle in the Senate Rotunda. I understand the reuse of the Vader and Skywalker themes... heck, that's why they call them themes. But, DotF just felt out of place. As did the music from the Battle of Naboo that came on when Anakin led the clones into the Jedi Temple. Call me fickle, but that could have used something more dramatic... or at least forboding. I didn't find that the live heads on the animated clone troopers was distracting... but the continual change in Sidious' voice was kinda kooky. I understand that if he was badly damaged by the Force lightning, it would have altered him internally as well as externally. But the croak could have stayed the same level of "croakiness", instead of shifting all over the scale. I thought that Boga was a bit too much... and when Obi-Wan went to pat her after getting off the first time, he really looked like he wasn't patting anything. The acting wasn't all that bad... although I feel like I'm the only person who thinks Hayden Christensen really nails Anakin. I did find a couple of things in the finished version that need to go into the
encyclopedia, so I'm off to get that done before releasing the new edition this weekend. Later!
