Well, Version 8.1 of the
CUSWE is almost completed. It's been a weird edition, because I've been revisiting some of the old West End Games RPG material, thanks to the archives of mMathab and his FTP server. I did a blog about a year ago on the Han Solo Adventures and the Lando Calrissian Adventures, questioning how a simple re-read of a source could result in 20 or more "new" entries. Well, the specter of immaturity has raised its not-so-ugly head again. While the
Rebel Alliance Sourcebook didn't generate much, the
Imperial Sourcebook was a wealth of new entries on the second read-through. Mainly, I was able to add a bunch more details about the structure of the Empire, both politically and militarily, that will make the information in the CUSWE richer.
It was interesting to see what I once thought of as "worthy" material to add into the CUSWE, and what got left behind. (Note to readers: I've never been shy about putting anything and everything in as an entry... no sense being incomplete, and I get bragging rights over
Tasty Taste and the Holocron for sheer numbers!) In some cases, there were just omissions that were caused by oversight or quick reading. Other times, it appeared I was just lazy. Case in point: There are a few Army ranking codes in the current edition, but only the first set that was presented in the ISB. I left out a ton more that followed, for no obvious reason other than I didn't want to put them in!
I'm currently entering data from
Star Wars Insider #88, and I'm about half-way through
Betrayal. Once I'm done with those two, I have some new coding to put up on the website, and then Version 8.1 will be ready.
Thanks again go out to Rilla Freeman, a.k.a. Lady Chiss, for keeping me up to date on the comics scene. I am forever indebted to her, for her continued loyalty to the CUSWE and her willingness to send her beloved comics across more than 6,000 miles (round-trip) to a complete stranger.
Now, where am I going to find time to re-read
The Isis Coordinates?
