As the title says, things have been hectic in my little corner of the universe. My regular job has been wide open for a couple of months, as we've been working to complete a major project. I'm happy to say that we're done, but I doubt things will get easier. That's the joy of being a professional... once you raise the bar, you can't go back under it without consequences.
Anyhoo, if you've been out to the
CUSWE lately, you've seen the simple facelift I've given to the site. I hated that the banner got shifted over to the left, and I really hated working with tags. They do have value, but most times I just get frustrated trying to get things to go where I want them to go. Instead of a WYSIWYG editor, I need a DWIMNWIS (do what I mean, not what I say) editor.
I have added a new page into the mix, called
Dating the Entries. One thing that I've tried to do throughout the encyclopedia is provide a reference as to the timing of an entry within the
Star Wars chronology. Most times, it's a simple phrase like "...during the height of the New Republic." Now, the
Dating the Entries page provides a bit more context on the dating, showing relative timing with respect to the Battle of Yavin, as well as correlating my wording to the official Lucas Books era descriptions.
I also put the detailed pages back in for entries. You'll notice that the entry names in a page listing have a subtle, gray background that changed to blue when you hover your mouse over them. Just click on the entry name, and you'll get a page that is dedicated to that entry. For most entries, this is a rehash of the description. However, for others, it provides a good deal of the internal stuff for you, such as category/type/qualifier, allegiance, and planet of origin. For planets, you'll also get the data from the planets table. (Now, I need to go over to the
Wookieepedia and update all the CUSWE links...!)
Let me know what you think of the changes. They're simple, but effective. Look for more in the future, including a "movies-only" description and more images.
