Sheesh... I
finally got my copy of
Darth Bane: Path of Destruction delivered today. I had hoped to get it when it first came out, for two reasons.
First, I wanted to get it into the next edition of the
CUSWE, which is due out at the end of the month (sooner if I can help it). Second, I had a coupon for an additional 15% - over and above my 10% membership discount - off the book at my local megastore. (Hint: the first part of the name sounds like several buildings in which horses and cows are kept, the second part sounds like an adjective to describe a king or knight.) But, given that I'm out here in the relative hinterlands of Durham, NC, USA, the local megastore still doesn't have it. I'm assuming that it's because there were other, more rabid
Star Wars fans out there who snapped up all the copies.
Anyhoo, I ended up wasting the 15% coupon because it expired on October 1st. I kept looking, though, but the book never showed up. Finally, I got exasperated and decided to order it online. I was pleasantly surprised that I ended up getting about the same total discount online as I would have with the coupon in the store. I was even more surprised to add the latest in
A Series of Unfortunate Events,
The End, to my order... also at a tremendous discount.
So, the long and the short of it is this: I finally got my copy of the Darth Bane book, but it won't be in the next edition of the CUSWE. You'll have to wait until December to see what information comes out of it.
