How much is too much?
I am in the process of converting the main encyclopedia site from an Access backend database to an SQL backend. The crack technical staff at TheForce.Net is already on the mission, and has a working prototype for me. In the meantime, while I was testing the new entrylist page, I found that I had two very similar entries under the 'A' listing. As we all know, inconsistencies creep up all the time in the Expanded Universe, especially when the source material is tied into the films. In the novel Labyrinth of Evil, there is a planet listed among those ravaged by the Clone Wars as Aagonar. In many other sources, we've learned about the planet Aargonar. Are they separate planets? Or, are they simply typographical versions of the same world? To quote a famous TV commercial, "the world may never know", but it begs the question: are both worth an entry in the encyclopedia? My basic answer is "yes", because any fanboy (or fangirl) worth his or her salt will probably check on it., if only out of a sense of completeness. I'm not one to nitpick the saga (see my discussion on Nathan Butler's online radio program "ChronoRadio" episode 19), but I feel this warped sense of obligation to list both, and let you - the reader - decide. Maybe I'm anal, or maybe I've been doing this too long. It just seems more complete to document each little nuance, in the event that it is actually a different world/person/thing.
