It finally makes sense--Thoughts on Dark _______________ in the LOTF series
*SPOILERS FOR BLOODLINE*

Okay, so now that we're past that, let me explain. I was thinking about the turn of Jacen Solo to the Dark Side and my mind came up with a finally logical comparison to the turn of Anakin Skywalker to the Dark Side.

Now, follow me on this. When Anakin is being lured to the Dark Side, Palpatine appeals to his need to lead a "life of consequence" beyond the "narrow, dogmatic view of the Jedi." That seems to be an overarching theme in Palpatine's appeal to the future Vader.

Even in the novelization by Matthew Stover, it suggests that one of his reasons for resenting and hating the Jedi Council is that they refuse his access (as a Master) to the further knowledge hidden in the Sith Holocrons that the Archive possesses.

Now, if you'd like to take another look at Jacen, of all of the NJO Jedi, he is the one who went off in search of his own doctrine, as it were. He spent five whole years learning from everyone from Akanah to Zekk or whatever because he was dissatisfied with what he had already learned.

He thinks, therefore, that the Light Side is restricting. If I had realized this before reading the books, I wouldn't have been surprised at all.
