 | It's that time again |
Okay, so every year, I drag my butt over to atomfilms.com and sneer and sniff and occasionally laugh in wonder, awe and utter fangirlishness at the offerings of the people who enter the Star Wars Fan Film Contest. It's kinda a ritual now. After all, it's people getting out there and being really cool enough to do movies about our favorite movies. And they used to get money off of it if Uncle George liked it enough.
Well, the sad part about this year's stuff is that they have cut out the monetary gain thing. Bah, we're not supposed to make money off of Star Wars anyway. That's not why there's an entire culture of people doing Fan Activities.
The Good News is that the whole thing is open for submissions now. Thanks to our revered Filmmaker Extraordinaire Trey Stokes for mentioning it in his blog (stop reading right now and go check it out at rop5.blogspot.com! Well, okay, you can finish reading first). Now, being as I am a poor college student who can't afford a decent laptop yet, much less a video camera, sound equipment and bribes for my friends to help me out with this, I can't make a fanfilm. I've got a billion ideas, but they'll have to wait until I marry a guy with that equipment. Or until I get a normal, well-paying job after college and don't need to marry into film equipment.
So, the point of this post is to say "Hey, all you people out there! You've got ideas! Go make this year's entries rock the house! Please!"
Not to mention, they now accept "Fan fiction". Dude, come on, that's even better!
