Hi,
I'm writing this blog entry from a Disney Learning Center in the depths of the Magic Kingdom. I'm here as part of a college program that Disney World offers. I'm working Quick Service Food (again). But the best part is, I get free admission and transportation to all of the Disney theme parks!
Riding Star Tours has been fun, and it's a shame that this ride hasn't been more heavily referenced in Star Wars continuity. Think of the story possibilities: why are the droids working for a tour company? What's up with the third Death Star? And that telephone? I'd love to see a short article about this--maybe Joe Corroney could do some illustrations, and make those funny-looking uniforms look cool.
There's also an entire store dedicated to Star Wars. I'm going to buy an Ewok and a Starspeeder.
Before heading out to Florida, my family ran the hospitality room at the latest Armadillo con--a literary science fiction convention in Texas. Walter Jon Williams was there; he signed my copy of Destiny's Way. Funny thing; you don't really think authors are real people. The finished product has a certain element of magic in it; you never really think that there's someone who had to come up everything inbetween the covers. And yet, here was Mr. Williams, eating M&Ms and making silly conversation with other authors like a real person.
More later--my computer time is up!
