My thoughts on Next-gen Gaming
-My thoughts on Next-gen Gaming

I will admit gaming is more than just a small part of my life. Such as Star Wars, I love gaming and my favorite activity is playing a good game with friends. As are many, I am very excited for the next-generation of gaming. I have been doing research, watching videos, talking with friends (and even yelling at them) trying to find the best next-gen system. I have decided to use my awesome knowledge to write my views on the next-gen.

Microsoft Xbox 360-
The Xbox 360 came out about a year ago, and had a few problems that severely affected the systems success in general. With shortages in number of units and then huge technical problems with the systems that did get taken home, many people were disappointed. However, Microsoft is showing that their system is not a failure. With info coming in daily about the newest update in the Halo series, Halo 3. Another thing helping out Microsoft is the newly released game "Gears of War" (link not for the meek). I must add that that previous trailer is not given justice by YouTube, and is simply stunning in the movie theater. It is considered one of the best 3rd person shooters on the market today and has sold ridiculously well.

Game for the Holidays: Gears of War
They have chainsaws. on their guns. What more do you people want?

Sony PlayStation 3-
The PS3 is coming. It debuted in Japan on Friday, and Will be in the US this Friday. Launching with a HUGE lack of systems (400,000 in the entire country), and a $600 price tag (there are $500 systems, but they are going to be extremely rare, around 1:5 ratio) nobody is (or can) be sure as to how the system will launch, let alone do after it launches. With this large price tag, everybody is sure that the PS3 will have much better graphics, and games in general. But will it really? This week, most game journalists got their retail units, and has extremely similar, if not the same, processing power as the Xbox 360. Why the huge price tag then? While the Xbox 360 has just come out with an optional attachment to their system for playing next generation DVDs, but Sony decided that their new system would have it built in, deciding that the "Hardcore Gamer" wants to have a blue-ray disc player, so that they can watch High definition movies, with little affect on their games.

The launch title to look for: Resistance: Fall of Man
this is the Halo killer people.

Nintendo Wii (pronounced "we")-
Nintendo decided to make a big gamble, deciding to not spend money on fancy graphics, or expensive technology, deciding to attempt to bring the non-gamer, into a real gamer. They do this, focusing their new console on motion sensitivity. This intuitive technology makes every game you've played before fun again (assuming it was fun in the first place)! Coming out with a new Zelda game (Twilight Princess), a new Mario game in the works, a $250 pricetag this system is not to be overlooked.

Launch game to look for: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
70+ hours of Zelda action (not kidding there). Is that not worth $250 itself?

Who's gonna win the "Console War"?
Well, depends on what kind of win you are looking for. If you are looking for number of units sold, Wii has that one nailed that one down tight. With the number of systems available for christmahanukwanza, and the lowest price tag, this one will be under a lot of Christmas trees this year.

In terms of "Hard Core" gamers, and greatest graphics, look at the 360. Sony won the console war with the PS2 last generation, because of exclusives, even when the Xbox had better hardware. With exclusives such as Grand Theft Auto, Gran Turismo, SSX, Ratchet and Clank and the Jak series. Now a lot of these series are either being forgotten with the last generation, or just becoming nonexclusive, now, Microsoft has a huge upper hand with the franchises that stayed Xbox exclusive, such as the Halo series. The $200 you save doesn't hurt either.

I plan on waiting in line for the Wii this weekend . I have the money, but missed out on pre-orders. :^O
