We owe a lot to Decipher's CCG and TCG. They gave many secondary characters a name and a short background. But Decipher was also very good at complicating things. They often cut a character out of a shot from the movie and add their own background afterwards. That can be very deceptive. In that way, Decipher made it seem like there were Ithorians and Chadra-Fan in Jabba's Palace, which of course, none of them were. It seemed that with Commander Gherant they were able to make their ultimate stand. Commander Gherant was part of the Dagobah CCG Expansion pack.
"This Imperial Navy Commander served as the Deck Officer aboard the Executor during the last years of the New Order. Gherant was hand-picked by Captain Piett, and was responsible for preventing unauthorized access to the Super-class Star Destroyer's computer core." - CCG Card
I always wondered why that 2nd officer at the bridge of the Executor during the Battle of Endor hadn't received a proper name. After all he has two lines ('We are not going to attack?' & 'Its too late!') and stood next to Piett all the time.

Captain Yossarian told me that this officer was in fact Commander Gherant. And indeed it does seem so. Decipher did not only create another background, but they even took him from another movie! The Dagobah set was filled with Imperial Officers, but it's unbelievable they took an officer from another movie to be included in this set. The rank of Commander does not fit however with the costume of Gherant. Gherant wears the uniform of a Navy Captain (one code cylinder) so it is another prime example of the wrong uniforms in 'RotJ'.
So the Imperial Officer standing next to Piett at the bridge of the Executor in 'RotJ' is Commander Gherant. I have provided some screen caps and the decipher card for comparison.

Gherant in 'RotJ' # 1
Gherant in RotJ # 2
Gherant in RotJ # 3
If you agree of disagree that these characters are the same, please let me know.
