Deciphering CCG Imperials on Death Star II
We owe a lot to Decipher. If it hadn't been for them, we would never have known the names of so many background characters, from the Cantina, Echo Base, Death Star, Jabba's Palace, etc ...

Near the end of their franchise, Decipher started to mess some things up. They often took characters from the movie, removed the other elements in the screenshot en replace that with another image. That made it sometimes difficult to recognise certain characters in the movie. Secondly, they totally messed up with Imperial rankings in 'RotJ'. We all know the general problem with the rankings, but Decipher only complicated things.

In this blog I'll show you the characters in the movie (Imperial Officers and pilots) that Decipher used against another background in 'Return of the Jedi'. I'll just use the official names of Decipher and I won't argue against the rankings (although that is probably what we ought to do). So if you ever wondered where these guys appear in 'RotJ', here are your answers.

* Godherdt / Sarkli / Chiraneau / Grond / Hebsly / DS-181-3 / DS-181-4
* Davod Jon
* Endicott (also appears later in the film when the Superlaser is fired)
* Merrejk
* Mianda (I'm not sure about him, but this guy does look similar)
* Jonus & Rhymer
* Jendon & Yorr

- On this photo from the set are also several of these Officers visible (Davod Jon, Sarkli, ...)
- Deleted Scene. Visible are Chiraneau, Sarkli and Godherdt (hiding behind Jerjerrod, but he can be seen in a small variant of this picture)

Nice find! Sarkli is also the main villain in Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike.

Ooh, nice :) Decipher did a cool job, regardless of any small errors. It's a real shame that WOTC cards didn't do the same kind of thing in identifying the obscure characters and giving them backgrounds. While I never actually played the Decipher cards, I'd love to see them come back. :)

# 6-6-6 was yesterday in Belgium :p
# Yeah I would have wanted the Wizards cards to do the same thing. If it weren't for them there would still be lots of characters without a proper name.
# Sarkli in RS III ? I never played the game, but that's neat :)

It was 6-6-06 yesterday in USA also. My point was you waited 'till today to avoid it being on that date.

Endicott eh? I've always just called him "Commander 'looks and sounds like a jerk' "... but I suppose that works too :)
