Clone Wars Continuity Issues
In this blog I'd like to talk about the Clone Wars series and continuity. I really like the Clone Wars. It keeps Star Wars alive and children - who are the future of SW - love it too.

But you will all have noticed that the Clone Wars have shook up the continuity. I'm not even going to talk about the exact time of the series during the Clone Wars because that issue is driving everybody crazy. I hope that somebody will someday try to figure this out.

I'd like to point out a few issues that haven't really disturbed me but surprised me. It seems to me that the Clone Wars try to follow the already established continuity and information but don't care about changing anything to it. Of course George Lucas himself is involved with the making of the series and whatever he wants or wants to be developed will be done, no matter what has been established before. I guess they tend to follow established material but they adapt whatever they feel is necessary for the stories.

# Ahsoka Tano: Don't get me wrong, I like Ahsoka but where did she came from? We never heard that Anakin had any Padawan. So that was a nice surprise but it needs a conclusion so we can understand why Anakin hasn't got Ahsoka anymore as a Padawan in RotS.

# Rotta: This is almost the same. We never heard before that Jabba had a son. Will future publications make more connections between Rotta and Jabba? Though Rotta will still be a Huttlet during the Galactic Civil War.

# Wullf Yularen: Though he is one of favorite characters and the info has already been retconned in several Campaign Guides from Wizards, the makers from the Clone Wars actually thought that Yularen was a Grand Admiral (due to his white outfit). I do not blame them for mixing an ISB agent with a Grand Admiral but I do blame them for thinking that a Grand Admiral appears in the movies...

# Maridun: Though Maridun has always been the planet of the Amanin, we don't see a single Amanin in the two episodes taking place on the planet. Of course there might be regions where the Amanin don't live but it doesn't really give the 'correct' image of the planet to the audience. The Lurmen are featured largely in these episodes and they aren't even natives for they hail from Mygeeto. The Amanin did appear in the webcomic though.

# Orto Plutonia: The planet itself was already mentioned in Threats of the Galaxy as being one the planets where the Narglatch lives so that is no continuity problem. But what are those Talz doing there? Those Talz must have been brought there by a starship or their ancestors were perhaps survivors from a crash of a slaver ship. Solution: The Essential Atlas placed Orto Plutonia close to Alzoc III.

# Pantorans: I don't mind having another blue species in the universe but why make Papanoida a Pantoran? Now there are no more Wroonians in the movies. First Chi Eekway who was in fact a Twi'lek and then Papanoida who turned out to be a Pantoran.

# R6 & R7 Astromech Droids: Kit Fisto, Plo Koon and Ahsoka Tano all have Astromech Droids who look like regular Astromech Droids but who are named R6 or R7. It's impossible for the Droids to be R6 or R7 Astromechs because these series were only established after RotJ in the EU.

# Neeyutnee: Another Naboo Queen. Where did she come from? What happened to Jamillia? What happened to Neeyutnee when Apailana was her successor? What is Gregar Typho doing on Naboo protecting Neeyutnee? It might have been a temporary assignment but Typho, who was secretly in love with Padmé, would never have stayed too long away from Padmé.

# Iego & Angels: I did like this episode but Iego was already established as a seriously haunted and dangerous planet and Iego in the episode is only half haunted. I would have preferred the appearance of Iego to be more dreamlike. Jaybe Hood was a great character and though he did look like Anakin, I would have done more with him. Let's say the Clone Wars showed a soft version of Iego.

The Angels looked totally different than how they were drawn in Geonosis and the Outer Rim Worlds. I can't say I don't like their new look.

# Ryloth: In the episodes, life will be possible on Ryloth's surface while normally the Twi'lek live underground and the surface doesn't sustain any life ... SOLUTION: The Essential Atlas uses the CW appearance so it seems the old description belongs to the past.

# Anakin & the Defender: Anakin and Artoo pilot the Defender towards the ship of Captain Mar Tuuk. Now, since Anakin could almost pilot the Invisible Hand by himself, I guess he can pilot a Venator by himself as well.

# Blurrgs on Ryloth: What are Blurrgs doing on Ryloth? The only explanation is that the creatures somehow got transported from Endor to Ryloth or ... maybe they aren't actually native to Endor but got stranded there when being transported from Ryloth like so many other creatures that live on the Sanctuary Moon?

#Senators in 'Hostage Crisis': Why does Dantum Roohd wear the same clothes as Giddean Danu? Is he also a representative of Kuat?

To conclude this entry, I'd like to point out a few gaps in the CW information. Sometimes we get really good Databank entries and sometimes no extra information is given and then of course certain things remain unnamed or unknown. We have been lucky that the Clone Wars Campaign Guide has named a lot of things from the first episodes of the Clone Wars.

* What's the designation of the Plunk Droid?
* What's the designation of the Firefighting Battle Droid?
* What planet is represented by Dantum Roohd?
* What planet is represented by Zinn Paulness?
* What are the names of the two Christophsian Senators in 'Hostage Crisis'?
* What's the exact deal with all the Gran Senators, such as Philo and Kharrus? Are some of them Senators who represent Kinyen or Hok instead of Malastare
