Master Replicas Force FX Lightsaber
So I was browsing around the web a couple of weeks ago and stumbled upon a news story on Rebel Scum where Wal Mart and Target were having online specials on the Vader Episode V and Anakin Episode III Master Replicas Force FX Lightsabers.

I've been a Star Wars collector for a while - mainly the action figures and Unleashed but I've always wanted an FX lightsaber. My desire only increased after seeing a few of these beauties at the Revenge of the Sith midnight show. However a voice in the back of my head (my mother?) kept telling me that the $100 or more price tag was just way too much. Which, in retrospect, seems odd as I spent more than that amount the night the Episode III action figures were released.

The $79.99 price tag was just too appealing, though, so I made the plunge and purchased the Anakin saber. The lightsaber arrived on Tuesday of this week and all I can say is WOW. The hilt is very detailed (though not to the level of the prop replicas). It truly looks like a hero lightsaber used in the filming of RotS. The blade is much much sturdier than Hasbro's roleplay lightsabers. Additionally, there are several rows of LEDs inside that simulate the power up/down effect very nicely. The sounds are top notch and when hit the saber makes a very realistic crashing sound. My only, very very small, complaint is that the blade doesn't detatch - which considering the nature of the electronics I understand. It would be cool to wear around on a belt, though.

If the deal is still going on or you just want one, I very highly suggest it. It's well worth the money.

You are indeed lucky! I have looked at those lightsabers for while now, and have dreamed of actually owning one. But alas, my funds are short, and with the prospect of college in the near future keeps me from spending what money I do have.

Yeah that would be awesome! They should make some handles that are just the right size to fit on a belt. (no blade) I know they do have collector's handles, yet I was thinking more along the lines of something a little cheeper. You know something that could stand up against the rough and tumble of hanging from your belt, yet something along that you wouldn't have to be worried about getting scratched. (you probably would want a collector's handle to stay in top condition)

Ever since I saw the FX lightsabers come out I have wanted one. I just got to save up enough money and hope they are still around 80 dollars when I can buy one.

To add on to that it would be cool to buy the 1000 dollar darth vader suit and the prop replica of the Darth Vader helmet and the darth vader Fx lightsaber and run around as darth vader. But it also costs around 2000 dollars. :(

Bantha fodder, I was first in line when the bugger things came out...Of course, I paid full price which was a whopping $119.00. I am a proud Jedi Master owner of three (yep, I said 3) replica lightsabers. I have the whole family: Anakin (and Vader's) and Luke Skywalker's lightsaber. Tres cool...and I have dueled with them between other fellow Jedi/Sith. Only I can say is, BUY ONE IT IS WORTH IT!

I hope they continue with the line and produce unique sabers like Yodas. And I'm sure a Maul dual saber will sell very well.

I absolutely agree. I own all of them except for the 2003 Luke ROTJ EL. I have the new 2005 LED version. So I have 7 of them and they are truly unbelievable. I might make a blog about all off them some day. Don't know yet. Bye

Darth Maul one is coming up in the 2006 line of new fx light sabers, along with Obi- Wan's episode 3. The Darth Maul one will be a battle damaged so it only comes with one. But each one will come with a coupler so you can put them together.:D

when at Celebration 3 I asked about the darth maul fx. if you buy 2 you can actually put them together to form his double bladed lightsaber. Unless they have changed it. I own the Vader Fx and absolutey love it. Prize of my collection. Like to see a Yoda version and a Dooku Version of them.

Not being able to wait, I bought mine full price as well...could not resist the temptation I guess... :)

I think the hilt is extremely well done, but I do agree...I wish we could carry it on the belt...
On Rebelscum they have mentioned storage cases/racks for them...I am seriously thinking of looking into that...My three I have now are simply resting in the corner...

One of my favorite things about it is when its quiet, and very dark....The effects are so realistic... :) ...

The Darth Maul saber will be intense...
