For those unfamiliar with Origins it's a gaming convention held annually in Columbus, OH. All sorts of games from RPGs to TCGs to video games to poker will be held over the four (five if you count Wednesday evening) day event. I'll be attending this convention for the second year in a row and I thought I'd share some...thoughts. So, I've put this in the gaming category though Origins is not exclusively about Star Wars gaming.
If you've read my past blog entries (and why haven't you?) you've probably noticed I'm a big TCG player. Now, I'm not you know a tier one player who expects to make it into day two of worlds or anything, which is why I'll probably not be playing in anything more hefty than a sealed deck.
Odd as it sounds I'm not really going for the gaming. Last year, my first trip, was a day trip followed by a six + hour SWCCG tournament then a trip back. That was a blast. This year I'm splitting a room with some friends and staying for two (yes TWO) whole days. Just experiencing the whole thing is something in itself - and that's the main reason I'm going. I know some chums from high school who will be there and seeing the (relatively few...this is a gaming convention after all) people who dress up is a hoot. Plus there will be some really cheap product there and I would love to gobble it up and play some SWCCG drafts with my friends.
So anyway, if you see a guy with a beard wearing a shiny black shirt that exposes his manly chest at Origins...don't say 'HI' that's just someone dressed up as General Zod. The real Zod will probably be wearing glasses with a goatee and more than likely a Superman shirt of some sort (or a RotS shirt too, who knows)....him you can say hi too.
Until next time, KNEEL before Zod!!!
