The Struggle Within
Part I
Part II
Part III
Part IV
Part V

Well it's time for my weekly entry so here it is folks, I hope you enoy it. When I left off, Anakin had just witnessed Mace Windu's death at his own hands (partially). Anakin had pledged himself to Palpatine and turned away from the light. In this entry, I will refer to Anakin and Vader as separate personalities because I believe that's how it really was. With that said, let's begin.

Anakin has just let the darkness within him (Vader) take over. He did this in order to save Padme and to gain the power he needed and wanted. Sidious then cristened this Darkside Anakin with the name of Darth Vader. Anakin Skywalker ceased to exist and now Vader was in control. I believe Anakin had planned to use his darkside to gain knowledge and then return to the light thus destroying Vader, once he had what he needed to save his wife. Palpatine's first order to Vader was to kill all the Jedi on Coruscant. Vader went to this task without question and the massacares began.

Vader brought thousands of clones from his 501st legion to the temple and started his assualt. Vader killed Jedi after Jedi. Most of these Jedi Anakin knew personally and it pained him to let them die, but he felt he needed to let Vader do this so he could save Padme. Vader actually enjoyed the massacares and it made him feel powerful. Vader craved more and more power and knew that the more he killed, the more his rage and hatred would feed him. Anakin was in agony, he was letting his darkside kill children, knights, masters and his friends. But he knew he had to let Vader do this because it was the only way to save Padme. He needed more knowledge and he did not struggle when Vader killed the Jedi.

After the temple massacare, Palpatine sent Vader to Mustafar to kill the Separatist Council, thus ending the war. Vader was delighted to go, he had another chance to let his rage and hate out, and he had another chance to become more powerful. Anakin figured that ending the war by killing the Separatists would keep his wife safe and did not feel as bad about letting them die. Vader arrived on Mustafar, happy to unleash he darkness within and allow himself to be invigorated by the darkside. He killed EVERY Separatist, droid, and bodyguard on Mustafar with homocidal glee. For the first time, Vader felt the full embrace of the darkside's power. He had the trademark Sith yellow eyes and felt the power of the darkside flowing through his veins. At this point Anakin thought he finally had the power he needed to save Padme. But as he awaited on Mustafar, Anakin contemplated all that he had let Vader do, all that he (through inaction) had done and he began to cry.

All that he had let die had garnered him the power he needed but at what cost? Anakin's soul was forever stained with the blood of innocents. Anakin finally realized what his anger and hate had turned him in to, he realized that Vader was only a manifestation of all the anger, pain and hate he had locked away. He realized that Vader was him. He had done those terrible things. He had murdered those innocents. The good in Anakin began to weaken and the darkside started to take hold of him. Then the plantary sensors flashed and he saw a ship coming to his location.

Once he realized it was Padme, he ran to the ship in excitement. Anakin was finally reunited with his love and now he could save her and live in peace with her and his children. But when the two lovers met things went sour. Once two separate personalities, Vader was now slowly taking over Anakin without Anakin realizing it. When he began to talk about his power and what he had done, Padme rejected him. This shattered Anakin, the one person who he went through hell for did not want him as he was?!?! Rage swelled up within in Anakin and then Vader emerged no longer being held back by Anakin. Padme's every word angered Vader and Anakin was slowly slipping away. Then Vader saw Obi-Wan standing in Padme's ship. Vader's extreme and powerful rage took over and Anakin was now smothered by Vader. Not only had Anakin been rejected, he had been betrayed!! Vader seized this oppurtuinity to take over. He was filled with anger and then he tried to kill Padme. He began force choking her.

Obi-Wan yelled for Anakin to let her go. Anakin was stunned, he couldn't let the love of his life die! So Anakin took over and released Padme from the force grip. Padme collapsed to the floor unconsious. Obi-Wan proceded to scold Anakin and try to talk sense into him, but Anakin was just enraged. He blamed Obi-Wan for turning Padme against him. Then Vader was back in control. Vader completely ignored the passed out Padme. Obi-Wan tried to call Anakin back, but it was useless, and Vader leaped to attack Obi-Wan.

The Battle of Heros continued with Vader fighting ferociously. Throughout the duel, Obi-Wan tried to reach Anakin, but Vader was in complete control now. Obi-Wan continued to try to reach Anakin but finally realized that Anakin was gone, and only Vader remained. As a final effort Obi-Wan told Vader "It's over Anakin, I have the high ground!" To Obi-Wan's dismay Vader responded "You under estimate my power!" Obi-Wan warned "Don't try it" but Vader leaped to attack anyway. With one fell swoop, Obi-Wan severed Vader's legs and left arm. After saying his regards for the vanished Anakin. Obi-Wan then left Vader on the lava beach hearing him scream "I HATE YOU!"

Lying there in agony, Vader was subdued and Anakin was in pain. Palpatine arrived and put Anakin into a medical capsule and brought him back to Courscant. After the suit was on, Anakin asked his new master if his wfie was alright. He had hoped that he saved her from Vader's forcechoke in time. To Anakin's heartbreaking dismay, Palpatine said that she was dead by his own hands. Anakin screamed "NOOO!" and the pain became overwelming. All that he had killed for, all the massacare and bloodshed was for NOTHING. At that point Anakin stopped caring and let Vader take him over completely. Anakin was buried deeply inside of Vader and did not care wether he lived or died. His life without Padme was worthless to Anakin, and so began his life of never ending torutre.

More in the next entry where I cover Anakin living inside of Vader, witnessing the terrors and atrocites commited by Vader and how they tortured his already shattered soul. Thanks for reading! :D
