Magnaguards....they have appeared in almost every Star Wars game that was released in 2005, but not all.
In video games, they appear to completely resemble the ones in ROTS, but with one exception: they have never worn their capes in any SW video games! Not that I'm saying I hate this problem, but I just think they look better with than without the capes. Looks like General Grievous (if he really cared, but when it comes to Kaleesh tradition?) might not be completely happy with Holowan Mechanicals for forgetting capes on some of the guards.
Here's an idea of how GG's complaints towards HM would go:
HM Employee:
Welcome back.......uh.......Is Grievous your first name, last name, or whole name, but if it is your first name, what's your last name?
GG:
Forget the greetings! There is a problem with the IG-100s you built for me. *coughs*
HME:
Okay, then. Uh....what is the problem with the IG-100s? They were programmed the way you requested and in good condition, so they seem fine to me.
GG: *slams on the employee's desk and puts face up close*
You fool! You forgot to make them capes! *coughs really hard*
HME:
General, we're manufacturers, not tailors, also, we don't know much about your people except for the name of your species and planet. By the way, I wouldn't yell so much if I were you, especially with the condition your lungs are in right now, because if you keep doing it to much without medical treatments, you will die of lung damage.
GG: *murmurs to himself*
Why didn't they put a respirator on this thing?! *normal voice*
Where am I supposed to get capes?
HME:
You made your own cape, so you could make theirs.
GG:
But I only have black fabric, and before you say, "Just use the black fabric", I'm all out.
HME:
Just go back to Kalee, it's very likely they have some there.
GG:
Oh, I forgot that these capes were supposed to come from Kaleesh tradition.
HME:
Okay now that this pointless non-business discussion about clothing and alien traditions is over, it's time for you to leave.
There are three games I can think of off-hand with naked Magnaguards - and even though the gameplay and status parts of video games aren't canon, there might be various models of Magnaguards.
Republic Commando - Since this game offers the grunt's-eye view of Star Wars, some of the gameplay parts are C-canon (but not the way some things happened). The ones in this game are so awesome, even without the capes. They have seemingly non-droid-like abilities that make them look like they're immitating the force. Maybe not having capes on these models was a smart idea, because the capes could have interfered with those twin seeker-missiles in their backs for a reason: the backblast from the missiles would have set the cape on fire and, if they are very unlucky, themselves.
ROTS game - I may not have played it(2 reasons: 1 - I didn't want to spoil the movie too much for myself; 2 - I heard the gameplay is similar to that of Ninja Gaiden's, and from my experience of the demo, NG is a very difficult game), but I know some things about the Magnaguards in this one. When defeated, I heard that they will latch on to you and self-destruct, possibly making them another model. The part about them not having capes contradicts the movie, and therefore, it is not canon.
Battlefront 2 - Not only are they naked, but they also don't have electrostaves

. No staves almost makes them hard to graphically mark them as Magnaguards. A few physical differences to note: they look bulkier than normal humans, as they look too big for the STAPs (tip: never ride a STAP as a Magnaguard, as they stick out easier than other humanoid units), their hands aren't holding on to the handlebars. Speaking of hands, these ones have different hands than ones we usually see, which look like pinchers. These hands have normal fingers. Manufacturing error (or character modeling error)? I don't think so. These Magnaguards have guns, and these guns have triggers (a radioactive grenade launcher and a light rocket gun that looks like a blaster rifle that is wielded like a pistol by beings stronger than basic battle droids, or Magnaguards are just very strong). It would be very difficult to pull a trigger with a pincher, wouldn't it? So, they had to make hands that could make pulling a trigger and pressing buttons easier.
So what I think to myself is this: In any later SW games with Magnaguards, will they ever put capes on them?
Possible reasons for naked Magnaguards:
1. Making the cape is very difficult, if not impossible.
2. After RepCom, LA might have just gotten used to making naked Magnaguards.
If there are any cape-wearing MGs in the next MG-containing SW game, that will really get my attention.
Feel free to leave any comments.
