...Okay, maybe a little bit, but he's still a Jedi.
Something just came to mind when I was watching the Clone Wars chapters that introduced General Grievous to the Star Wars universe (Chapters 20-21). The presence of Grievous can drive Jedi padawans insane, like Shaggy...sorry, I meant Sha'a Gi...anyway, which can result in death, just as it did with him. This has happened even in the EU.
Not only have padawans had this fear, but there is one particular non-padawan who has had this problem as well (not Anakin): a knight....on the council....by the name of....Ki-Adi-Mundi.
If you rewatch CW: Volume II: Chapter 21, you can see hear some fear and insanity in him. First, you hear him yelling out at Captain Fordo and his ARC troopers, "Shoot him down! Shoot him down!". Second, during evacuation, you hear him yell out, "No! We must pursue!" when there are two dying Jedi aboard the gunship. Then later, back at the Jedi temple, Conehead suggests "This must be dealt with!". It seems that almost being killed by Grievous is a spark of fear and madness.
Recall one of Yoda's lines from TPM, "Fear is a path to the dark side." You know the rest of the line, but that's the only part that matters when it comes to this blog. Anyway, so Conehead is on the dark path...well, a little bit. I'm not saying he has fallen to the dark side (it doesn't go like "you experience a negative emotion, you have now fallen to the Dark Side"), but he is dwelling into it a little bit. He's still a Jedi though, and always was, obviously, since he died a Jedi on Mygeeto at the hands of formerly loyal Clone Commander Bacara and the Galactic Marines during Order 66.
About this fear though, wouldn't Conehead have had issues with the council concerning this, especially when he's a knight (yeah, Anakin was a knight, too, but this guy's different) on the council (which Anakin wasn't until an early part in ROTS)?
This might forever (okay, maybe not forever, but a long time) be a mystery to us.
